Anyone have their transmission dipstick pushed out Often? I put it on a rack and made sure the vent was clean as best I could. I've changed the fluid and filters and no change. When I pop my hood 90% of the time my dipstick is out 2-3 inches.

Situation normal.

The dipstick is actually too long and hits the bottom of the pan.

As Flash said, tranny dipstick is too long and hits bottom of pan in stock configuration.

Solution: Either cut about 3/8 off the end of the dipstick or a simple solution is to take a pair of pliers and bend a lazy "Z" in the dipstick to make is a little shorter...
Do not worry about having a little to much ATF+4 in the transmission; these transmissions like and do much better having a little extra ATF in them!!! Like a 1/2 to 1 Qt. extra...

Something like this:

Thanks for the help. I'm going to forward this thread to my fiancee to inform her that my dipstick is in fact "too long"

I just replaced a cracked dipstick tube on the transmission of my wife's CRD. I cut the dipstick at the bottom hole (cold low level) and rounded it with a bench grinder. I then drilled two 1/64" holes in the dipstick. I drilled a new hole for cold high level and a new hole for hot high level. The new holes are the same distance from the high holes as the high holes are from the old low holes. The old high level holes are now the low level holes. I no longer have an issue with the dipstick coming out of the tube.

LOL! I can only imagine the expression you are going to get in response, where she is disbelieving of you.

Yeah, be sure to let us know whether she would prefer to have your dipstick kinked or cut :ROTFL:

I just zip tie mine in place by looping a tie through the "o" at the top of the stick and around the wire loom right behind it.

after dealing with this for a while i believe i discovered the cause. the wiring harness rubs against the tranny dipstick tube and works the dipstick up. i zip tied the harness away from the tube and it quit coming out

She chose kinked for "personal" reasons
