Hi I'm new here, just bought a CRD and have a question: When starting I'm not seeing the glow plug indicator light on the instrument panel, is this a normal thing - or - should I take it in?

Thanks in advance and nice site!

This time of year you might see the light for a very brief moment - if at all. If it is starting O.K. I would say you're fine. An actual glow plug failure will trigger the check engine light.

Mine is never on for more than half a second, and then only in the mornings.

I tried it out this morning, it was a little cooler out, and saw the GP idiot Lt flash. Thanks for the help.

According to the owners manual, the longest the light will stay on is 2 seconds...I guess that would happen on the coldest of days.
