Edit: it's the fuel return line :)

Hey all...happy holidays!

Just making sure that this is how this part should be. Can not source a pic on the Web. I belive it's the fuel line attaching on to the metal pipe on to the fuel rail (I think).

Is it suppose to hang this low or should it be near the line.

Cheers

Chris

Are you referring to the parts outlined in orange?

If so, I'd say that looks pretty normal. The gray plastic fitting does not go all the way up to the ridge(?)/flare(?) if that's what you're asking.

Here's a picture of the same fitting on my engine (ignore the partially installed and broken-off glow plugs in the background :jester: )

Its one of those quick connect fuel line fittings. Great for pressure not so great with vacuum. I would suggest removing them and using aircraft quality hosing and worm screw clamps. One less place for air to enter.

Be Informed!
This is the fuel return line of the CP3 injection pump that returns fuel dumped by the pressure regulator valve internally within the CP3....
This line is NOT under vacuum! It actually may have a very small amount of pressure on it.
This line "Tee"s into the a plastic fuel return "Tee" at the back corner of the head on the drivers side where the injectors fuel return connects.
This is a hard plastic line that is heat shrunk onto the plastic "Tee" block and if you try and pull or pry it off, you will break the plastic "Tee"!
Several on this forum have reported breaking the plastic return connection and it is not cheap to replace OEM.
If you order one from Mopar, it comes with the hard plastic line already heat shrunk onto the plastic "Tee"...

That's strange, i don't have that hard plastic fuel return pipe. Its been sometime since I last delved into it so I could be wrong. I have the return tee with the non return valve built in but seem to recall all return fuel comes from the rail and injectors.

The ones on your side of the pond may be slightly different?
Here are a couple of pap's engine pictures that show the return line off the CP3 to the plastic junction block:
(see arrow)
In the first picture, you can clearly see the injector, fuel rail return, and CP3 return all connected to the junction block. The empty connector on the junction block is where the fuel hose return to the fuel tank connects...

I will take a closer look at my setup and report back. Mind you those pictured show a rubber hose not the ridged plastic one shown on the first photo and its attached with a typical hose clip to that plastic tee piece. I guess its a change to design.

Actually it is a hard plastic line, pictures are a bit deceiving...
