I want to build a custom box for the CRD, and do away with the larger passenger rear seat and leave the single seat in place, in case i actually have anyone that wants to tag along..... :D

It looks like the bracket can be cut, and the larger seat section removed.

anybody done this or have ideas?

Yes, about ready to do this myself.
But plan on leaving the seat back/cargo area fold down deck.
Subbing to see what you come up with.

I think there are 2 spots you'll have to cut. Where it mounts in the back and front.
