Hey all, sorry but it seems the search function is not working.

Other than hoses, where do vacuum leaks commonly occur? What is the best way to test them out in a 2006 crd?

Are there any diagrams available?

The source of vacuum comes from down by the CP3 pump, over the air intake, to the vacuum brake booster. the boosters can leak internally and / or if the pedal is not being properly held forward by the spring, it can rest on the valve causing it to leak.

From that point (on my '06) It travels across the firewall to the passenger side, just under the wiper / ventilation compartment.
This line is not rubber, but plastic.

If you still have EGR the exhaust hose passing behind the rear of the block is a hot point directly below. If the insulation sleeve has been compromised or is missing, the heat can get high enough to soften the plastic to where it collapses.

Directly following, it passes behind the coolant reservoir tank, between the tank and the firewall. That's a good place to check if the line is being / has been pinched.

Just past the tank the line "T"'s. The base part of the "T" sends a vacuum line through the firewall to power the heater / AC unit. I have not had reason to mess with this stuff yet, so I will let others experienced with this tell you how to check that.

After the T, the straight extension (top of the T) continues to the right side of the engine compartment, and goes forward to the Vacuum Reservoir, and the Turbo Vacuum Controller

Check for obvious leaks along all of those lines. If vacuum is present at all, and there is no visible damage, then start capping off one system at a time starting from the end, to find out which system is leaking, and keep working downstream till you find it.

Thanks heaps for the great info.

I removed the hoses from the vacuum resovior snd pluged straight to the turbo modulator. Boost came right back. The modulator did make some noise though and a long weird noise after shutdown. Is this faulty? I didn't get any codes.

What is faulty? The modulator the resovior or the vacum solenoid. Is it worth replacing all 3? It definitely makes a more leak sound noise when it's all plum in the normal way.

This could explain my sluggishness.

Mine also makes noise for a couple minutes after shurdown, at first I thought the coolant was boiling or something but then I noticed it was coming from the vacuum reservoir/solenoid area rather than the coolant reservoir. I figured it must be a normal thing, but now that you mention it, maybe it is an indication of a leak?

Just purchased all 3 from idparts Inc new filter. Will let you know the outcome and noises a brand new kit makes.
