I need to replace my electric cooling fan - electric is fine, seems to be burned out. I would rather not spend 300 plus for a new factory fan. Are there any aftermarket alternatives or sources to buy a used fan? I saw that somebody retrofitted a Hayden 3814 but it looks like this fan is out of stock most places that I have looked. Thanks, Chris. |

PT Cruiser has the same fan motor. Perhaps the same fan entirely, but not certain about that. |

You could pretty easily swap in a derale fan like the one I tried to use on my radiator. It is two speed and I wired it into the factory AC fan wiring so it functioned just like the stock fan. You could use those zip tie things to mount it I assume Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I did some sleuthing and found this cheap Taiwan knockoff for the gasser which should be the same for our CRD. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002B ... 0DER&psc=1 Wish me luck and thanks for the responses. |

That fan attaches to the engine side of the radiator, in place of the engine driven fan. |

The fan and shroud are for the gasser but the motor is identical to our CRD, including the electrical connector. It was a simple procedure to swap the fans and shroud to the new motor. It didn't work when I started the engine up and turned the AC on...but I decided to check codes and had 2 associated with the low and high speed fan relays. Cleared those and all is good.

Good to know! It is a shame that bigger fan and shroud won't fit the front side of the CRD as it looks like it would move a lot more air.... |
