Just an FYI for everyone. I started using a very small amount of coolant after my head removal with no prior coolant use issues. I ignored it for a couple weeks as I was fearful of a head gasket leak. I topped it up once then within 2 days and some beach driving it was down again. I took it to work (BMW) and I put my coolant pressure tester on. Mind you in installed 4 new coolant hoses and a rad cap when doing the job. As you all know the cap is a 17psi cap. Well when I reached 15psi on my tester coolant started leaking from the new thermostat/new hose junction. The clamp came with the hose from ID parts. I removed it installed a BMW worm gear clamp and leak is gone pressure test again and the large hose on the water pump starts leaking at 16 psi. That one is a pain in the booty to get to for some stupid clamp. Both leaks below the cap pressure release amount.

So if you do all this work do your self a favor and get better clamps.

Before you snark about idParts did you bother to check with them regarding the clamps? It appears what they sell has the OEM tension clamps which everyone knows are finicky to install properly - been there done that. Worm clamps are "ok" but do tend to cut into hoses; "T" clamps are better.

I wasn’t knocking ID parts about the clamps. I was just saying to watch out for them. The BMW clamps I used are real nice and don’t cut into hoses. I’m not dumping a bunch of money into t-bolt clamps on the whole engine.

I replaced both radiator hoses on my Dodge diesel this year and the bottom tension clamp on the water pump inlet kept leaking. It is one royal pain in the booty to get to! I then replaced it with a worm drive clamp and it too leaked just enough to show a problem when the engine got up to normal operating temp. So I ordered "T" bolt clamps in the correct sizes for both the upper and lower radiator hose clamps and installed them all.

Problem solved, no more leaks thank goodness....

"T" bolt clamps rock!!!!
