Well,

I went to the local conoco station to fill up the wife's CRD with the usual crap thay call diesel down here when i noticed a new sticker on the pump. "Ultra low sulfur diesel -(15ppm maximum sulfur content)."

A couple of things I noticed:

1. It barely had an odor
2. For some reason it's greenish yellow instead of clear.
3. After it had enough time to get to the motor - it's waaay quiter, less clattering, and runs smoother.

I figured we would get it early. The Citgo refinery down the road just finished their expansion project for the ULSD.
I live in sulphur Louisiana.

It's nice to finally have some good fuel.

Minium cetane on the ULSD is 46, so that would really improve engine noise, mpg, and power if you were getting 40-42 cetane crap before.

How was the price per gallon compared to regular old diesel around your area? Just curious.

Most of the stations were selling at 2.69-2.74 and the ULSD was 2.85. This doesn't necessarily mean the ULSD costs more because the stations fluctuate up and down every week.

I'll post again next week and report if it still costs more.

I got my first tank of ULSD in NY state (Hancock-Delaware River) at a Mobil station. I did not notice any difference in either performance, or mileage. It was VERY expensive compared to what I normally spend, but it was NY state and the fuel tax is much higher there than where I live, NH. In fact, I paid 30cents per gallon more than I pay at home-3.15 vs 2.85.

yeah i didnt notice because it was same as the rest of the diesel around here, about 2.85 i think,
Im just wishing I could find something that would help my 15mpg issue.

You have to drive in Orlando traffic thats enough in itself to cause the 15mpg :D, not to mention having to lug around those MTRs (them things weigh a ton) while doing it.

oh come on i traded my f150 4x4 v8 for this baby and it got 13-15 in orlando traffic. I was really hoping for about 23-25mpg, what am i doing wrong, even some of the guys with the MTR's dont have that bad of milage? even when i had the stock tires it got crappy gas milage. besides a stuck egr what else could cause this? and its not my foot being boost happy, ive driven plenty of boosted cars to understand how to squeeze every little bit of econo out of them.

Fuel leak, crappy fuel, stuck EGR Flow Control Valve or EGR, someone stealing fuel on regular basis, bad injectors, improper fuel pump timing (very likely) or loose nut behind the wheel.

LOL in the computer world we call that PEBKAC problem exists between keyboard and chair.

On a more serious note whats with the bad timing on the fuel pump. I usually park in the grass and i just parked in the driveway and noticed that im leaking oil...bad, i had to add about a quart and half to make up for it. looks like the dealer cross threaded the oil plug, how i dont know that bad boy is pretty thick. but it leaking around the threads. Going to the dealer today for them to fit it. I was going to just change the oil but I want them to see the shatty work the 19yo kid did thats back in the service area. Im pretty sure Im done with this dealer for a while.

You are in for a real treat, the oil pan is approx 1" thick aluminum and the thread for the drain plug is a very odd size and in machine shop world called a sensored word thread. There is no repairing of the drain hole threads, that is why we had the big FUMOTO Drain Plug & adaptor group buy with http://www.lubricationspecialist.com/]Lubrication Specialist I think he still has some and he does have a new never used, except to check mfg of adaptor, oil pan that he would like to sell. Your dealership probably does not have the proper tools and training to rethread the oilpan. My local dealership has replaced 2 CRD oil pans so far thanks to Wal-Mart and 1 caused by dealers shop oil change guy.
