Hello Fellas,

What are you seeing for EGT temps (pre turbo) when at idle, in Park, with the defroster on, just before you shut her down?

Here's why I am asking:

When the defroster is not on, it drops down to 350-375* pretty quickly.

When it is on, it seems the EGTs don't want to drop below 400*.

Did you ever notice this? Try it. What do you make of this?

Defrost uses the AC Compressor to dry out the air coming out of the defrost vents which can load the engine up to ~9 HP.
Automobile manufactures do it for purely profit motivation. People that get in wrecks because they can't see out the windshield might become disabled or die and not be repeat customers. Those greedy selfish car companies who try to keep people alive just so they keep buying cars :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:
When you are going at highway speeds having windows open adds more drag than ~9HP so you are better off with the AC on and windows rolled up.

Thanks for the great explaination. I did not know it was 9 hp.

I am aware that with the defroster on causes the compressor to run, and the fan to run.
This is one of my next mods.....I would like to have a choice. Just have to find the time to fiddle a switch in there.
There was a post some time back on how to do this. Got to find it again.

I, like most of you on this board, am not the average driver.
I control my vehicle, not the other way around.

So my Father was right in saying that you should ALWAYS turn the AC or Defrost OFF before shut down.

And on our vehicle it seems that if you don't, you will never get down to shut down temps, except maybe in the Winter.
Something you all might want to think about if you plan on keeping your turbo.

I would like to edit my previous post here.

MY vehicle does not get down below shut down temp with the defrost on.

If yours does, please let us know.
