With less than a hundred miles, the CEL came on. Went to the dealer and they said it went off. They checked for TSB's but said it was updated from the factory. The next morning I started it up and after a minute the CEL came on again. I have a very steep driveway and I'm wondering if the tranny pump may be having a problem picking up the trans fluid. The dealer cleared the code. I parked it nose down the hill today. Curious to see what the next start up brings. The vehicle runs fine, only other problem was the double stick tape wasn't holding the chrome molding on. The dealer ordered me new trim. Anyone else have a steep driveway with this problem? |

Welcome to LOST trac95ker! Is the truck behaving strangely at all? Or is it just the light illuminating. I used to have a driveway with a bit of an angle (sold that house) and I ended up throwing a CEL that turned out to be the tranny filter/pump. I don't think it was due to the driveway parking, but I could be wrong. Mine had the cold-start issue (wouldn't fully engage gear until after tranny warmed up a bit). I hope you get it sorted out. |

Assuming the dealer didn't do this (shock!) check the tranny fluid level. Some have reported low levels after delivery, which might explain this. |

thanks glad to be here. The first time it happened, it didn't want to move. I turned it off then on twice and drove fine. The second time it happened I shifted in to 1st gear and it drove fine. Dealer shut off CEL. Started up today, CEL came on right away. They are keeping it till it's fixed. Hopefully they will give me a call tomorrow. they checked for any TSB's and none were needed. They said it has all the updates. |

Same problem, difficult time backing uphill. It slips, shudders, and make a funky groaning sound. No CEL and only see the situation when hot. |

My Liberty is back at the dealer. I'm still having the same problems. They found a chaffed wire and repaired it. That didn't fix the problem. They found another wiring issue. They think they have the problem under control. I'll know later today. Its been back and forth to the dealer for the CEL about six times. Needless to say, I'm pissed off. Why would they have wires exposed like that? I'm wondering if I'm going to have torque converter, EGR and what ever else issues. This already turning out to be a love hate relationship. |

Unfortunately, the transmission electrical wires are exposed on virtually two manufacturers that I know. Chevrolet and Chrysler. I live in a agricultural area and last fall I had my Tahoe parked outside for a week instead of the garage while away on business. Since the fields were being harvested, the rodents were displaced from their food buffet and decided that my Tahoe provided shelter and its transmission wiring harness was a tasty treat to just nibble on. When I tried to drive, he Tahoe went into limp mode and $750 later from the dealership I had my Tahoe back. It immediately went to get traded on the CRD and it never sits one night outside. Bottom line, if your CRD sits outside beware of rodents! |

The dealer talked to Chrysler and they told the service dept. to unplug a wire going to the TCM from where a wire that forks after the fuse block in the engine bay. Replace it with a wire that goes from the TCM directly to the battery with an inline fuse. I haven't had any problems with the tranny so far but its only been a day. Now the CEL does not come on before start up. I called and they told me to bring it back on Tuesday. A dealer rep will be there. The vehicle was built in April of 2006. I got my order in right before they stopped taking them for that model year. |
