OK, I've got a dyno and an 06CRD. Lets have some fun. I just bought the SPDiesel SIIe module and I want to test it back to back with some others. Which parts+modules you guys want to see tested? Who's got one to lend to the cause? (you'll get it right back) I want to try the TS Perf and any others that I can get.

Test list-
Exhaust- Stock vs muffler-ectomy vs full 3" exhaust
Perf Modules- test'em all
play a little with raising boost
intercooler upgrade?
turbo upgrade?

Awesome, I was waiting for someone to get the SP Diesel. I was planning on buying it in the next 2 weeks. What do you think? Some detailed performance descriptions would be nice. How does it drive and how would you describe the increase in power in the highest setting? Anything bad about the programmer?

After doing the research on diesel mods, I am getting the Predator module:

Supposedly an increase of 45 hp and 90ft/lb torque. I'll be sure to do a dyno run for before and after and post my mpg changes too.

Why did you choose to get the Predator Module and not something else, like the SP?

I like the SP so far. I chose it because it's adjustable and has digital in cabin fuel pressure and boost pressure gauge built in. It gives you 10 settings of fuel pressure boosting and 10 settings for injection timing+durration. All the other units seem to be ether on or off, and after playing with the SP I see it's pretty nice having multiple settings. If the other units cost half as much I would have considered them but they all cost about the same so why not get the one with all the features.

Thats a lot of extra power. The CRDs still have the same diff and axles in the front as the rest of us don't they, and if so...

Do you really feel like the front end can take that kind of extra pounding? I have no doubts at all about the rear axle, that would hold up just fine. I would just be worried in 4 wheel drive.

Of course I don't know ANYTHING about the CRDs, I considered one but the cost was ridiculous.

I don't see the front end being a problem as I can't imagine flooring it while in 4wd. I just don't think you'd ever need all that power off-road. The only time I could see utilizing all 400ft-lbs would be in 2wd on the road where wheel hop and sudden impacting traction isn’t a problem.

I'll be interested to hear how well the fuel economy setting works, that is if you're not too tempted with the extra power to try it out!

You're saying it uses pressure, timing, and duration? TDR reported a few months back, when they tested different modules, that the Quadzilla and Edge units that used a combination of pressure plus timing gave the best results for power and fuel economy with the lowest EGT's.

Well I guess that depends on what RPM that torque gain is applied. If it is applied uniformly than you are gonna end up with lotsa of extra muscle in your wheels regardless of if you want it there or not. I would think it will be ok, but I'm bettin if a locker(not necessarily a "real" one) was introduced to the front diff, it would be messy

...Rock crawling in 4LO
Of course that just means it depends on how hard you like to wheel.

All of the other modules out there that I looked into just dumped more fuel into the cylinder, causing it to consume more fuel, pollute more and raise the exhaust gas temps. Also, the predator is an easy install and removal if I need to go in for service and supposedly is undetectable by the engine computer when installed.

The more efficient burn seems like a more elegant solution, increased power is nice but better fuel economy and less particulate is a pretty attractive feature.

The only thing that gives me pause is that the predator hooks up to the fuel rail pressure sensor, making me think it will alter the injection pressure. I am already running B100 biodiesel (more viscous than dino diesel) in my libby so hopefully the mod won't put additional strain on the injection system.

So do have to adjust all those 4 things yourself, pressure, boost, injection timing+durration? Seems kinda complicated. Or do you have 10 pre-set programs you can choose from? Where did you get the SP module from and how much was it?

It's super simple. It just has 10 settings under the "power level" and as you increase that setting it increases everything (except fuel pressure) a little bit. This adjustment really speeds up reponse and each step bumps a little more power than the last. Then you have 10 settings under "fuel pressure" and what this does is bump your base fuel pressure. With what I have found and in talking to SP's tech dept I leave this feature on 0 most the time. I'll play with the fuel pressure on the dyno but it doesn't seem to do much for power and it seems to make the truck run a little odd.

pigfscker- The SP doesn't just dump more fuel. In fact even on it's highest setting you don't get the old choo-choo train out the exhaust like all the big trucks get.

So what were your test results on the module you have? Did I miss the post somewhere

I just got the SP the other day. I'm going to wait to dyno till I have a few parts lined up to test. So far I really like the SP though.

Would be nice if you could describe the performance increase a little more detailed, how it compares to stock mode or other vehicles.
Where did you get the TURBO DIESEL badge? And where did you buy the SP Diesel module?

I just made an offer for a sp on ebay. How much did you get yours for? I have a dyno lined up if I get it, Id like to compare notes and see what kind of numbers we can put out. And what turbo diesel badge is that? looks nice.

Hmm... doesn't do much for power - so is it strictly a fuel economy thing then? What does SP's tech dept have to say about engine wear, EGT, and/or increased emissions when the SP is switched on? I have only found a few resources that talk in-depth about diesel performance mods, very little about increased wear, and almost no reviews (unless they are testimonials on the site that is selling them).

Got any resources you want to point me to?

I don't have all the ansewers for you guys. I just got it and I'm still trying to gather all the info I can. If one of you wants to call SP and ask away then report back here, that would be cool. My point of this thread it to begin gathering data on these modules. When I was just looking to buy one I couldn't find any real good data on any of them. So I'm gonna put a couple of them thru their paces and report back here. So far I have the SP to test and an offer to let me borrow a Preditor. I'd really like to find someone with a TS Performance module to let me test also.

So far with the SP I'm happy with the extra power output but I don't think it's the claimed 90hp increase. Still it is money well spent. I'm doing some fuel mileage testing right now and am finding some real interesting things. I'll post back when I have some data.

The Turbo Diesel badge. We just bought a 06 Ram Cummins Diesel for the shop and were de-badging it. On the sides it has badges that have a big "C" attached to those small words reading "Turbo Diesel". I cut the "C" off and stuck it on my Jeep 8)
