I just saw that All J now makes a Frankenlift for our CRDs. Has anyone tried it yet? From what I've read, the Frankenlift is the best out there for the gas KJ, but until now I was dissapointed that it wouldn't work (due to the weight) for the CRD. I think I'll be ordering one soon. |

I am too leaning towards the FL for the CRD. However when I spoke to Heather she said they were working on a better spring solution other than the OME HD springs. She said she hoped to have everything ironed out by Summer.... |

I installed something similar. I put in the 2.5" Daystar in the front, the 2.5" OME HD springs in the rear, and Ranchos all around. I handles well on and off road. |

Same here, However when a decent spring becomes available for the front, I will replace the Daystar's |

I just installed the CRD Frankenlift II this weekend. Sorry, forgot the camera during install, so no pictures. I'll post before and after soon tho. The rear is easy! The front.. that is a totally different story!! Don't even try this without extra hands (3 sets) and a spring conpression tool. The CRD spring is very stiff. The hardest part was getting the bottom bolt on the clevis back into the lower A arm. Rear... <1 hour @ 1 person Front... >6 hours @ 3 persons (3 hours if you don't count all the time fighting the bottom bolt) **** Must use a spring compression tool (front is not pre-assembled like the 3.7) **** Oh, and 2 crow bars!! |

Because you have to reuse the CRD springs. Assembling the spring and struts isn't that bad a task. It's getting the spring compressed enough to install the bottom bolt. Oh ya, something I forgot to mention before. You will need a press. The top plates don't come with the bolts or pressed in. You have to press out the bolts from the original top plate and repress them into the new one. Also be careful with this step. You can distort the plate which makes it more difficult to put back into the wheel well. Also there is a lot of tension on the break lines during install. We thought about disconnecting the break lines from the calipers to releave the pressure but did not want to deal with any potential computer error codes later. |
