Post subject:  CRD Help - Random throttle noise

Trying to avoid bringing my 2006 CRD Liberty into the shop (I am not as mechanically inclined as I would like to be). It randomly gets "noisy-rattley-sputtery" and gives reduced throttle output when I hit the "gas" (its diesel ofcourse). It can happen when in park also.
My thought is a fuel line, fuel filter, fuel injector... but again... I'm not a mechanic.
I have a video of the noise but I'm not sure how to load it on here.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks
---figured out how to upload my video. Here is what it sounds like... https://youtu.be/rCtUEQEGcnI

You need to get CEL codes read out which may point you to the problem although fuel problems such as a blocked fuel filter usually do not post a CEL.

If you can not get hold of a reader get the Agents to only read out the codes for you...write them down and then erase them and only pay for them doing that. Some of these codes may be old and no longer relevant so starting with a clean sheet will give you new, relevant CELs.

The "Butterfly" flap in the throttle body can fail....the gears that drive it into position get damaged.
Most owners remove the flap from the shaft it is mounted on....the butterfly valve is supposed to stop shudder when shutting down....my 2002 Export CRD has no such thing and works just fine!

If you pull out codes post them up here for us

Do you have black smoke increased from exhaust. I would check for cracks in intercooler hoses or loose clamps. Also post codes could also be a boost problem and if you haven't changed the fuel filter in 10-20,000 miles just go ahead and change it whether its the problem or not.
