I have 2006 crd and have a little coolant line pin hole leak. It’s on the drivers side toward the back of the engine. I’m guessing, just guessing, it’s an egr coolant hose. Where do I find part numbers for these little hoses? Or can I just use the right diameter heater hose? I’d post pics but I am not that bright. It was a pain in the butt to jimmy rig it enough to make it to the shop today. I had to squeeze behind the oil dipstick and a bunch of plugs and fuel filter. |

I think I might have figured it out. I’m taking an educated guess in saying it’s the EGR water hoses. Can I substitute a heater hose of the correct size instead of purchasing the molded expensive ones? |

Yes, and the EGR is the only coolant hoses on the driver's side. BUT you would be better served by deleting that coolant loop entirely, the EGR along with it. Your engine will last longer. |

As to the small rubber hoses, you can just use some fuel line of the correct size. the larger rubber hose going to and from the cooler is 5/8 heater hose. But like already suggested, your best bet is to get rid of the EGR crap all together. You can cap off the the EGR feed tube by installing a blank off plate on the end of the tube. Once you have it blanked off, you can totally remove all the EGR coolant hoses. See this:> viewtopic.php?f=5&t=76576 |

Totally agree if you are going to gain good access to that area block off or delete depending on inspection requirements etc and if you haven't already make sure you have upgraded to metallic glow plugs too. |
