Since GDE no longer does transmission control module tunes in the United States is there any company or vendor that could reflash a 2005 Liberty CRD tcm. Now that my engine is sorted the transmission/torque converter are next on the agenda. After researching this forum the gold standard seems to be a Suncoast billet torque converter, new transmission pump with TransGo shift kit less resister and a GDE tcm tune. The heavy duty hardware will run better with the right software. Does anyone know of a viable option for tuning the tcm? |

Ac diesel in Canada tunes them... they are 2x the GDE price but when you don’t have options... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I decided to start buying used units on eBay to see if I could find a pre recall module and got lucky on the first try. So you could try that. The other option is the hemi gasser tcm which I also tried. It’s cheap, but has its caveats in use. |

If you are talking about the pre F31 /F37 I believe only part of the recall changed some shift points and rest was ecm programming to limit torque around the shift point . There were also differences in 2005 and 2006 model year IIRC. Maybe the 2006 models were already changed when new. The TCM tunes GDE did were for either ECONOMY to lockup torque converter at lower speed at least in 5th gear around 52mph I think and hold it in lockup down to somewhere in the 40 s . I love my eco TCM. The other option was for TOWING that I believe held lockup in at least parts of 4th and 5th gear. These didn't help function of the torque converter or eliminate shutter except that wa secondary to maybe having higher rpm at a given speed etc. One can also "drive around the shutter" by turning off overdrive or not staying at rpm speed combos that exacerbate it etc. In short the GDE TCM tunes were not a cure for torque converter shutter and the initial 2 ecm tunes were likely to exacerbate it. |
