The OEM fan brackets are no longer available in the US through most sources and Mopar vendors or dealers.
I rebuild the fan hubs and have a couple of rebuildable units in stock. I rebuild them when a order comes in.
Checking with one of the largest bearing supply companies in the US, I was not able to source the OEM bearing.

I was able to find a sealed bearing with the correct shaft diameter but requires boring the housing out 1.95mm larger to accommodate the 42mm bearing.
I have rebuilt several units using a three stacked 42mm Koyo bearings arrangement.
Note: Koyo (Japanese made) are the primary bearing in all Toyota vehicles.

If you know where to find the OEM bearings, please share. Would love to get my hands on some of them.
Thanks for sharing the part number.

That original bearing shows up in the punk bearing catalog. On Monday I will try to contact one of the Canadian industrial suppliers to see if they can access it. The plague may complicate that though.

WW, in your search, could no one find it or did it turn up as propitiatory?

Please do check on your end and see if you can locate any.
They are NOT propitiatory, it is a good verified bearing number: FAG-WR01565
Bearings and Drives Inc. verified the number as a good FAG-bearing number. It has not been discontinued or superseded.

I have spoken with several other large bearing distributors in the US and the bearing is listed in their catalogs but they tell me it is not available.
I have a LOST member friend in Illinois who is also trying to locate some of the bearings.

I have contacted the Schaeffler Group USA Inc. in Fort Mill, South Carolina, they are the official FAG-bearing headquarters in the US; I have not heard back from them so far. I called them, left a voicemail and followed up with an email.

Boukeylin Bearing Limited said they can make them, minimum order is 500 units. :ROTFL: Not going to happen!
I suspect the bearings will have to come from England or Germany, but that is just a guess on my part...

If it is in a catalog...try contacting Motion Industries.....they deal with a lot of parts like bearings.

Sent an inquiry to Motion Industries & Quality Bearings Online, will see if either responds. :juggle:

Are there any of the correct outside diameter bearings with the shaft protruding out of both ends that would work if we simply cut off one side (and trim the other end if necessary)? One could run a big batch through a machine shop (water cooled cutter) for cheap...

Great idea if you can find any! Cutting off some excess shaft would be easy. I have not found any water pump bearings with the right dimensions even with longer shafts. And I spent a lot of time looking through a bunch of different bearing catalogs at Bearing & Drives Inc.
or
simply find some 40mm OD deep groove sealed bearings with 20mm ID. The OEM shaft can be reused and the bearings can be stacked on the shaft.
That is what I am currently doing using 3 of the 42mm OD bearings, but I have to bore out the housing to use them and it is a PITB and very time consuming.

I also read this in one of the online bearing catalogs; so using three stacked deep groove sealed roller ball bearings like I have been doing may actually be a stronger rebuild than using the OEM type bearing?
Quote:
The Ball Roller type design offers a much higher radial load capability of the roller row, which is particularly important when supporting either a fan or a relatively high off-set belt load.

Nothing was available from NTN? They supplied most of the other OEM bearings on the engine - definitely the idlers for the serp and timing belts, and the tensioners for both as well (at least originally)... After 2014 the Litens timing tensioners have been using a Chinesium bearing with the Canadian core pressed in place. I'm not impressed, but have not heard of any of those larger bearings failing out prematurely.

When I inquired on this side of the pond I was told that it looked like a bearing used on something New Holland. Like a tractor or other agriculture equipment. IIRC there were one or 2 of their tractors made in the EU with VM engines. I came to a dead end after that.

Dang, maybe you can find a local machinist that will ream them for $20 or so? I have a welder and machinist like that, and they are both reasonable. The welder likes 20 dollar bills for beer money lol

Unfortunately there are no machine shops in my area anymore, they all went out of business.
I need to find a small good used lathe or milling machine. :D

Yeah, gonna be hard to cover that cost with a few custom KJ parts, unfortunately

The downside to CRD work and production.... These are a diminishing marketplace. At 15 years old, less than half the original sales volume still exist on the road (this by itself is rather impressive though and says they ARE a solid vehicle despite the known flaws) but working on them or developing products for them is unlikely to repay the investment over the long term....

I'd still be calling WW first for a fan hub if I needed one. I haven't found a usable option for the balancer yet, but I'm still looking on that one for the group.

Labor of love; cause there sure is not a lot money in it considering all the materials, labor, time, tools, welding supplies, shipping costs, etc...

geordi, What about "Damper Doctor", I thought someone on LOST has used one of their rebuilds and stated it was a good resource??? :?

No luck from Canadian Bearing. They informed me that no water pump bearings are made anywhere but China, regardless if they are in someones catalog or not.

They CAN rebuild the units... But pricing from what I've heard is pretty steep for what they are doing. Seems they need the complete unit to rebuild (no surprise there) but are basically just pressing a rubber gasket into position for about $250. Ouchie. There's got to be another option out there.
