Post subject:  Trailer brakes controller

Hi all,

I have a dual axle 18-foot aluminum flatbed trailer that I use to haul my sand buggy and ATVs on, and it has electric brakes. Occasionally I use my CRD to haul the trailer, but it doesn't have a controller for the electric brakes. What make/model of brake controller have any of you had good success with when paired to your CRD?

Thanks!

Steve

not a CRD, but I've towed something similar to you (20' closed deck steel with a car on it) several times.
I have a MaxBrake (https://www.southwestwheel.com/p-3084-m ... oller.aspx) but I don't believe you can get it any longer.
If mine ever fails I'll be stuffed for finding one i like.
There used to be a few ODB2 connected ones that worked really well, but I don't see them any longer.
I've been out of the brake controller game for a long while, sadly.

that's the style of one I'd be looking at now it seems. it's ODB2 connected to it can read your brake pressure supposedly, instead of relying on some external sensor that's based on motion/inertia.
