Still applies, 2.5 or 2.8, but being an '05 I bet it is a 2.8L. |

Get a "check engine" or "stop engine" warning light. Sometimes get a bad signal off a sensor which throws the computer off. Shut it down for a moment and restart which reboots the computer. Will often just go away. |

I had a similiar incident. Started the CRD, pulled out, stopped at a stop sign and when accelerating from the intersection, all the sudden I lost power. Engine kept running, but no throttle or power to the wheels. I Pulled over, shut the key off, waited a minute then started with out an issue. Hasn't happened again. I suspect as RFCRD guessed that the computer got confused, reseting cleared up the issue. Except for this one incident, my 2005 CRD is running better than when it was new. I have about 18K on it now and feel it is really operating smoothly. I have gotten better than 30 mpg on the highway cross country and routinely get better than 25 mpg to and from work (17 miles each way mixed city and highway). The only service has been oil and filter changes, and I had the diff's drained and filled after a Moab trip. |
