| Post subject: | EGR getting replaced and dealer techs screws up |
I have my '05 CRD in the shop for a EGR replacement per the CEL code. The dealer had the EGR 2 days later and I'm happy..... until I get a call from the SW and he says the "tech broke a pipe or something going to the EGR?" I am understanding and said get it fixed. Well of course he did not have the part but a dealership in Fredricksburg, MD had one... OK thats great. Well, I called this afternoon and find out per another guy in parts that the part is on backorder My gripe is that I get one story in the morning and another in the afternoon. To make things worse the dealer is out of loaner cars. No I feel better fellow CRD drivers! Thanks for listening to my whining! Tom |

I won't be surprised to get stuck in a mini-van. I am surprised that a "new" engine would have a part to break off like that. |

My CRD is currently in the shop for it's 3rd EGR related repair...and this is the 4th visit. The first EGR replacement took 2 visits, and when they did the 2nd EGR replacement (which also took 2 visits) they said that the fuel rail was cracked (probably by the tech who did the 1st EGR replacement). For the 3rd EGR replacement: 1st visit, replace EGR valve; 2nd visit, wiggle hoses and clear code; for 3rd visit, clear code and lie to me about it's being there in the first place. Then last night it started making a buzzing or whirring sound to go along with intermittent check engine light. So it's back in the shop. I declined a loaner this time, I rode my bike to work from the dealership and at lunchtime I'm going to fire up the Topless Banana (yellow '73 MGB) and drive that around until they fix my CRD. |

Cool. I thought maybe I was the only one who did that. It is only 1.5 miles though, and the service guys have gotten used to me pulling up with my bike on the rack and getting myself to work. Like I told them, the CRD gets decent milage, but it can never beat my bicycle! |
