| Post subject: | Which Plugs? |
I'm ready to change my Plugs again. Any suggestons on milage with the different brands of plugs? How often should they actually be changed? Also whats the right mixture for the Radiator? Will that affect the milage? Do you get better milage when the engine is hot? or a little cooler. I heard that about 120 is the correct temp? |

With fresh plugs I don't think the mileage will vary a measureable amount no matter WHAT brand of plug you buy (no.. not even with "splitfire"... another "snake-oil" deal if there ever was one) The type of plug WILL have a large factor in how long before you need to replace them again though. ~20K for cheap plugs, ~30-40K for more expensive ones. IMO, I don't think the really premium plugs (WAY expensive) are worth it, but I don't buy the really cheap ones either.... I like either Bosch or NGK. Radiator should be ~50/50 on antifreeze mix... no measurable effect on mileage to my knowledge though. I'm pretty sure you get best mileage when the engine is in it's recommended temp range, and although I don't remember off-hand what that is, I KNOW it's way more than 120*..... I *think* it's somewhere around 190-210*. I'm definitely not aware of any engines that perform well below about 180*. Luis |
