I am selling my Thaoe and since I drive 2k miles a month I was looking to buy a car. Well I love Jeeps and been looking into a Liberty, but I also found a steal on a Rubicon that gets 13 mpg.

I think I just drive too much to live with 13mpg so I am "trying" to talk myself into the middle gorund and buying a Liberty that hopefully gets a good bit more than 13, but less tha n25-30 a car would get.

So if I get one I ma lifting it 2.5" and adding 245s or maybe 265s. What MPG can I expect 50/50 driving conditions?

Gas or Diesel? Diesel probably about 20 around town and 25 or so on freeway.

I found a sweet deal on a Rubicon a couple of weeks ago and almost bought it. The reason I kept my Liberty and didn't buy it was fuel mileage overall. I loved the Rubicon, and still would like to have it. But around town I'm getting 23 miles per gallon in this Liberty CRD, and giving up almost 10 miles per gallon just for the convertible top would be stupid.

I'm doing 23 mixed driving, and 26+ all Interstate. My wife's '04 Liberty with the V6 averages about 16. So there is a consistent 7-8 mpg difference between the gas and diesel Liberty. I drive 2,000 miles per month like you do, so that difference in fuel costs alone MORE than makes up for the added cost of the diesel option.

I was reading this thinking "23 MPG on a gas Liberty, what am I doing wrong?"

I think I average around 18 (stock)

Gasoline: 14 city, 16 highway. Lifted with armor and larger tires. Man I wish I would have gotten a Diesel, but they came out a year after I got mine :(

I can get about 17-18 in the city. Not much different than stock really. However highway mileage took a hit. I can still get good number but I need to slow down. I use to be able to get around 22 cruising at 75mph now it is more like 20mpg.

I'm in the 17-18 range as well. Lift, full skids and bars, 245/75/16 MTRs

WOW, I want a CRD!!!

I get 17.5MPG average with 90% of my driving highway so I figure about 18-19 highway and 16 city.

A combination of lift, tires, and armor. Actually tires will probably have the biggest effect if you run a Mud Tire. Lift seems to effect aerodynamics hence why the lower mileage and highway speeds. Probably shouldn't be speeding in a Jeep anyway, but it is nice to get places quickly sometimes.

well the gas mileage isnt that bad for me, im wanting a lift but am going to keep stock size tires (235/65/17) so hopefully a lift alone with not hurt my mileage. And i also have to get skids, but im not getting bolderbars or anything, just the stock skids.
