Latest Tank of Gas.... measured by filling up the tank to the top and dividing that into the miles on the last tank..... mileage was: (drum roll please) 392.7 miles burning 19.35 gallons = 20.29 mpg. That was about 2/3 - 3/4 highway, and 1/3 - 1/4 city stop and go. Of course tires are inflated to 35 psi cold, and I've been driving pretty conservatively with only once or twice during the last tank when I gunned it to get a short distance quickly. This weekend I've got a run to Jacksonville and back (to Tampa).... I should be able to get better than 24 mpg out of it for that... I'll post Monday on the results. Everybody else care to share their latest mileage reports??? Luis |

25mpg on my last half of a tank. I filled up with some B20 the other day to top mine off just because there was a pump and I was there. Thats pretty much city/hwy. 50/50 of both pretty much. |

Here's my latest mileage report. I'm really impressed with the 3.7L so far. Just in case you didn't know, my last tank (about half city, half highway) yielded 20.29 mpg, but included quite a bit of stop and go traffic for the city part, and since my last road trip to Gainesville (from Tampa) yielded just barely over 24 mpg I was stoked about possibly breaking the 25 mpg mark on this trip (to Jacksonville and back from Tampa). Unfortunately, I wound up having to run about 20 miles around town here before I could get out on the road, and on the way back I got stuck in a bumper to bumper traffic jam where it took me 30 minutes to travel about 2 miles (coming through Starke on US 301 with all the Gators headed home from the Fl-Ga game). I had the windows down and AC off (the weather was absolutely fantastic), used the cruise and traveled at 60 mph whenever I could, and I haven't checked the tires for the last 3 weeks - but they were at 35 psi when I checked them last time. I didn't quite break 25 mpg, but I DID travel 408.2 miles on 16.419 gallons = 24.86 mpg. Figured by re-filling the tank to the brim and dividing the gallons into the mileage. I honestly think that if I hadn't had to run the first 20 miles in town, and hadn't been stuck in the traffic jam for a half hour, and had checked the tire pressures before taking off (I was going to set them at 36 psi for the trip, but just didn't have time to get around to it) I'd have gotten a solid 25+ mpg out of it. Oh yeah... I gassed up at $2.53 per gallon but saw gas as cheap as $2.45 per gallon on my trip. I think the cheapest diesel I saw was $2.89 Luis ps. I don't add any octane boost, biocide, ethanol, or any other stuff to the gas either... I just fill it up and hit the road. |

The last tank was 15.9, all around town. This past weekend I put in new plugs (Bosch +4s, first new plugs in 44k) and changed out the fluid in the difs & transfer case (went synthetics). Still have to change the trans lube. Be interesting to see what, if any, difference these things make.... |

Last tank of gas - 17.71 mpg, this was roughly half highway driving with no speeds over 75 or hard accelerations. However, the motor isn't completely broken in yet, as there is roughly 1200 miles on it now. |

After 3 yrs I still get about 14.5 in town and up to 17 hwy. I have never reset the EVIC since I got the KJ and it is at 15.5 avg now. I've got just 31K on her now and 21K of that has been with the lift/tires/roof bars. My brother has an 05 Rene and he is getting around 15-17 in town, all stock. |

Drove to CO from IL and over the entire trip averaged 22.25mpg. This was with about 300-400mi driving in and around Denver and city driving in my local area. The highway speeds were averaging probably about 75mph. Not exactly light on the gas but got to use cruise through Nebraska. The mountains may have made up for it though. Did a little bit of 4x4 too while in CO and that is in the numbers. I drove to Washington DC from IL before switching to Mobil 1 and installing the K&N and Flowmaster. My average on that trip was about 18mpg with 99% being highway. |

This last trip down the appalachins worked out to 18.9 mpg for some 2590 miles (lots of mountain back roads & interstate driving). The last two tanks averaged out at 21.7. which was mostly interstate driving while holding my speed to 65mph (previous tests at 75mph yield 18.3mph!). |

Wow, gramps.... 21.7 is a LOT better than 15.9 I'm still averaging between 16.5 (if I drag the boat around on the weekend) and ~19.5-20 mpg for day in day out driving that's about 1/3 city, and 2/3 highway. My wife says she usually only gets about 16-17 mpg ('05 sport 2WD, 3.7L V6 Auto), but I know it's because of the way she drives. Luis |

ok... just another update... Tank before last I hauled the boat (and 3 other guys) almost all the way to the coast and after running out the rest of the tank I only got 15.9 mpg... was actually a little worried that I was getting less mileage than previously... since I've never had a tank less than 16.something before. Took a trip to Gainesville last weekend though... ran the AC/heat (with the compressor on) all the way, but set the cruise on ~62 mph for the interstate portion of the trip... had maybe 40-50 miles of around-town driving with the rest being on road. 396.7 miles using 18.34 gallons = 21.64 mpg average. Not too bad for a 3.7L...... 87 octane gas was only $2.079 per gallon here when I filled up before and after. Works out to an average of $.0961151 per mile (less than 10 cents per mile) Luis |

I got 403 miles out of my last tank of gas and when I filled up it took 19.899 gallons = 20.25 mpg Most of that was on the Fwy, with a little bit of around town driving. However I do live in Southern Ca. so Fwy driving is pretty much around town driving without buying anything. I am scared to hear about those of you getting 15 mpg or less, I don't know how it can be so low. |
