Day 1: Top of The World

Well on the first day of trails we decided to do Top of The World, but first we had to make Jeep repairs. My brothers XJ developed an oil leak on the 850 mile trip out here. So we changed the valve cover gasket and fixed some overheating problems with a thermostat which had us set for a day on the trail.

Day 2: Hey Joe Canyon

First off, if you really don't like scratches on your Jeep, this trail is a good one to avoid.
Image
But besides that, this trail provided a fun challenge. Most of the trail followed along side of the Green River.
Image
The brush got tight when close to the river.

One of the more difficult obstacles of the trail.

At the end of the trail, there was a mine which had some cool ruins which included this abandoned truck. 8)

On the way back, we got high centered on some rocks and had to get pulled back, but we tried another line and got it.

Nice... I've always wanted to run Hey Joe Canyon but didn't want to beat the Jeep up too bad. Was it pretty cool? Might have to take the Willys on that one...

Just got back from a night run on Klondike Bluffs. The slickrock was very challenging in the dark. The trail seemed a lot different than i remembered. But It was daylight last time. Taylor took a few pics but he already went to bed so i will post them in the morning.

May 20-21
Day 3-4, Thompson Canyon & Onion Creek:

Well after hours and hours on the trail, both Jeeps are back at the condo; just not completely in tact.
Anyway, we decided on day 3 to take the easy and scenic route through the La Sal Mountains; little did we know this would be an all day and mostly night adventure.

Towards the top the top on Thompson Canyon, 8000 ft.

The decent back down to Onion Creek.
Image
But the day slowly got worse as my brothers XJ starting overheating again. After about a quarter mile after cooling, it would once again overheat.
Image
After waiting for it to cool, we decided the best option was to head back to town and buy a new water pump and fan clutch to fix the problem. This put us back on the trail for an extremely late night. Joseph and Taylor decided to come hang out with us as we finished the repairs. This put us back to the condo at 2:30 A.M.
Image
While driving back home, we noticed a clunking noise slowly getting worse and worse... This led to part 2 of Jeep repairs. We first changed the the right front strut/shock....
Image
But while changing that we realized the cv joint was the reason for the shock to blow out. Now we are waiting for the cv to come in tomorrow at 8 A.M. to finish our repairs.

Heading for Schaffer Trail and Canyonlands for the day with two remaining Jeeps. 8)
