I need at least one good picture of both model year Libertys with the bumpers off so i can see the structure underneath. I'm looking to do a whole front end swap and and i need to know how big of an undertaking it is going to be to go from the curved '04 style hood to the flat '06 rene style hood. Thanks for your help, i'll post a picture later of what i mean.

Here's a link to my 2003 front end bumperless. It's a big pic at original size, you can click below it to get a smaller size if you want.

Stew,
Perfect!!! thanks a lot, not i just need a similar shot of an '06 model year with the flat hood (renegade or RME i guess)

04jeepkj,
Thanks, those pics will help as well since they show me what's under the flares.

From looking at the pics i already have, it looks like al i'll need is a grille, hood, flares, bumper and new latch...

Here's a pic to better descride (the rene didn't belong to anyone i know, so i couldn't really take a look at it or else i definately would have.) What i have is on the left, what i want is on the right.

it's gonna be tough, but i'll probably have to save all summer to do it, so if anyone sees any hoods, fender flares, bumpers, latches or grilles (preferably white) please let me know.

You are also going to need new fenders(not just fender flares).

Yeah, i thought i might, and i was hoping to avoid that and maybe even trying to scrape by for now with just the '03 limited fender flares, but cut, but alas, it seems that isn't how it's going to work out. Anyone got any leads on where i can get this stuff from say a parts retailer? or is it even possible (or worth it) to get it through the dealership?

Got any good junk yards near you? Maybe call and bug them once a week or something. Make friends and have them call you if one shows up?

I like the one on the left WAY better! :D Of course, whenever a newer body style comes out I seem to really like the previous year design. Same thing with the new Wrangler. I used to hate the look of the TJ, but looking at it next to the new Wrangler, and it reminds me of an older CJ and so now I want a TJ toy :P

Here's another vote for keep it as is and spend that money on good mods instead. The 2005 flat hood is ok, but I can't stand the ugly bumper. Just my opinion.

Gpod luck on the swap, call the junkyards and look on eBay so it doesn't cost a fortune, and report back to us when it's done!

Rick

Well, the buper would be replaced with an ARB ASAP...i don't particularly like the bumper either. But I LOVE the grille and hood. It just seems more Jeepish if you know what i mean. Now that's not to say that i don't like the curved hood, but i just like the flat hood a little better, it just seems to stick with the heritage a little better. At least as far back as i can remember, Jeeps have had flat hoods, i just assumed stick with tradition since it seems to have worked so well in the past.

Look for the renegade flat hood and grille. Maybe you can make tube fenders (like the ones on CJ's and wranglers) and get the RL front bumper. That would look awesome! 8)

Good luck on this swap! Keep us updated!

Tube Fenders...AWESOME idea...never even though of that....as for the bumper, i'd probably go ARB, i just love how much it sticks off the front, and i like that the winch can be inside it and protected...i also like the bull bar portion, as i may hang lights from the bull bar as well as directly onto the bumper. So i still need the actual fenders (flares will be out of tube), the hood (flat) a hood latch, and a grille...oh yeah, and about $2000.00 Well, if all goes as planned then maybe i'll be able to get it done this summer....

You will need to add money for painting also, the Renegades don't come in white.
