I like them alright. I have a '96 Tahoe and a '95 S-10. The Tahoe has 126,000miles and the S-10 has 298,000 and I've never had any major problems with them.

I just always have. Never liked the looks of them nor the performance. They seem to be aimed towards the female crowd with all their, "no oil change for 12k miles and such."

Just b/c they last along time doesnt mean I like them. We have a 94 grand with 160k on it and its not had any major problems. I love the thing to death and would still love it even if I had to put a new engine in it tomorrow. :wink:

I've had a few people tell me they hate Chevrolets. I don't LOVE them, I just don't hate them and wonder why other people do (not because I think they're full of it, but because I like to hear other people's opinions). I'm not real partial to any particular brand...

I agree, I don't like new Chevy stuff... I think the golden age of automobiles was around '95... they were advanced enough to be efficient and last a while, but not every little think was controlled/monitored by a computer. They actually used metal in the body back then too.

I think the golden age of auto's was in the 60's

40 years later and its still hard to find a faster car.

Yeah, that reminds me of the old Bill Cosby bit about getting a Cobra:

Gawd I love the old Cobras, only TWO seats! Mazda, BMW and the rest only WISH they could build something that sweet today

The golden age was NOT the 60's for God's sake. The cobra was/is a hot looking car that could move, and while the german luxury saloons are not in the same performance ballpark there are maaaaaany cars today that outpreform the old cobras.

See: ferrari, lamborghini, porsche, lotus, high end benzes, and the new high end vettes to name a few ..

I'm not saying that the Shelby cobra couldn't hold its own against a lot of sports cars today, but it wouldnt compare in most categories above and beyond raw speed (thats like having a jeep that has crazy torque but has no suspension articulation).

Oh, and I compared the cobra to the higher end brands only because the cobra would have cost top dollar in its day.

I agree, there are many faster and better handling cars now. Performance has come a long way but you will never replace the looks of a classic mustang, gto, gtx, super bee, shelby, impala, corvette, chevelle, camaro, barracuda, etc. etc...

Today stock mustangs run 13s, Subura STi's and Mitsubishi EVOs have run high 12s to 13 flat depending on the magazine that tested them. The new Z06 corvette, would make a 60s Cobra look broken on a track.

All I know is back in the 60's and 70's a working man wouldn't be driving a Cobra. Yet today, for $299/month I get to drive a Honda S2000 which is an absolutely pure sportscar. Back in the 60's and 70's I'd probably be driving an AMC Pacer.

We had an s2000 for a while that was an absolute blast. I have to agree with you.

Jeger I can't really disagree with you on the point of looks because it's just an opinion, but if I had to I would argue that some cars today are better looking than the best cars of the 60's. Just an opinion though ...

Well I must say that is a first for me, never been called an old man before :shock:

I guess I was referring to the "remembering cars from their youth" thing, The cars from my youth pretty much sucked, I dont know why I got into the older models, my first car was a 64 galaxie, then another but a 2 door, then a 64 plymouth fury, also drove a 62 comet for a bit. Step dad had a 62 Impala SS ragtop, 409 dual 4's 4speed, That was a cruising machine there. Uncles had dusters, gtx 440 6 pack, hemi dart, etc, etc. You know it is a funny thing though, those cars were the best back then, but a slightly tweaked neon srt4 could run with them nowdays.
