that's great... cant wait to see it finished. it's going to flex like crazy! should have plenty of strength, and power for those 33's... could actually get away with 34's i bet.

That is fantastic, for the most part you are making my dream a reality. Can't wait to see it finished. What sliders did you go with.

The last photo a couple of posts up (previous) shows the CV axle, although the Liberty is on a lift and the tires are freely dangling down. The SIFS differential is apparently about 3 inches narrower than the stock differential, so that helps a bit on reducing the angle. Next time it's on the ground I'll take a photo of the CV's. I am also anxious to see flex when completed.

I saw the pictures on the lift, and at full drop it doesn't look bad, so you should be good. Which means driving angles should be good too

Based on my experience I suggest anyone looking to go with the 15" steel wheels stay on the small side of 4" backspacing (i.e., 3.75 or 4), since the 4.5 did not work at all for me.

Do you think you would have been able to fit 33/12.5s if you went with 3.75 on the backspace?

Perhaps. However, the possible problem is that a wider tire, when turned fully, will dig further back than a narrower tire, although i am not sure by how much. I suppose you could cut a couple pieces of cardboard into rectangles, one 33 x 10.5 and one 33 x 12.5. You could then put a nail in the center and pivot the rectangles to simulate the increased diameter during a turn. Actually, i suppose you could do the same thing with a piece of chalk and a string. Anyway, it would not be the inside clearance that might be a problem with the 12.5's, rather it would be the increased effective radius/diameter. It is pretty tight even cutting into the rear of the wheel wells and i did not want to chance the 12.5's. Also, the country around here is mostly slick rock and i believe i will get better grip and maneuverability with the narrower tire.

I went with the supersliders. I like that they stick out a bit to protect the side panels as well as provide a step. However, i am wondering if the attachments are beefy enough since all that tubing that shows on the outside is connected to the frame through just a few much smaller pieces of square tubing (or maybe they are solid). Even though they are bolt on, i will put a few spot welds for a little reinforcement and to make sure they do not loosen up.

Video on the trail

rides great. little oops at the end with result = one broken rear axle shaft, broken transfer case gears. Good news is that none of the new stuff broke. After a few tears, back in the shop for repairs and promise to be a little more careful (light on the peddle) next time out.

wheel hop sucks! upgraded axles are fairly cheap for the rear though.

The 4.56 gears feel good. The speedometer still reads a couple mph low I think (need to check against gps). The feel is pretty much back to stock power. Or, actually, with the GDE hot tune it feels better than stock - substantially.

I am now thinking about upgrading axle shafts and transfer case, perhaps closer to 4 to 1. I'll check previous threads and appreciate any advice.

If I had the money, I like the Wrangler Rubicon t-case the 241OR RockTrac, looks like a clean install (vs the atlas that you need different shifters) and beefy enough... JJsKJ has one, and I think I saw someone else swap it in keeping the IFS.

Of course TjKj2002 has the atlas and loves that too

Arengant - do you know what the ratio is on the rubicon transfer case? For now I think I'll just fix the stock case, but I want lower gearing for the rocks so an upgrade won't be too far off.

Follow up - i've been reading about the 241OR rocktrac (4:1). Very interesting.
