Well I had to go out and buy me a roof rack, since the wife changed her mind on towing a trailer from San Diego to Norfolk this up coming weekend, She just has to much stuff that she wants that won't fit in the KJ and on my cargo basket, so I told I need to go buy a roof rack. I got the Thule Moab with thule cross bars and all.
Well it sits just a little bit to high for what I want on it full time. I really wanted this one off ebay, I think he is a member here but couldn't remember and if I ordered it it would not make it to me in time.

I have a hitch cargo basket that holds 2 of the 24 gallon action packers, that will also be used. |

I want to see that KJ loaded for hauling! that's going to be awesome! I like that basket, even if it does sit a bit high. Very nice purchase. Come on over KJ Willy, we'll turn up the humidity for ya! And I'm probably going to organize a local meet-n-greet soon. |

Hey KJ Willy, You have a safe trip traveling across country. Only had to do that once. East coast to West coast. Ex Navy ET here. I got off active duty in 1996 and did a few years in Reserves here in Colorado. Just purchased our KJ last week. Boy, if I was still in, I could have the Khaki KJ match my Khaki Chiefs uniform. Now that would have been something.javascript:emoticon('') Laughing Please take a pic of that fully loaded KJ. We are planning a family trip this December to CA and down to Disneyland, and I want some idea of what I might be having to haul. Again, take care and have a safe trip. |

lovelandkj, thanks, this is my 2nd time making this cross country trip in this KJ, First time was from Southest GA to SD this time it will be from SD to Norfolk VA. I will diffently take pics and post them up. Had my KJ up to 80 mph today and no extra noise, with the sunroof open the noise was actually less, rack unloaded though. |

That's funny. I found that my KJ kinda settles around 78MPH too. I thought I was just having fun driving that fast! Will you be back in town by October? Don't miss out on the OBX Fall Krawl if possible! |

Southeast GA. Sounds like Kings Bay. Did a two weeks of reserve duty there. Also spent a lot of time on the golf course with the skipper and XO. The advantage of being the command Master Chief. Great course, I just got eatin up with the chiggers? The other advantage going there, we could do our PRT test during those two weeks. Big difference on everyones run times coming from high altitude to sea level. Just got an email from the dealer, looks like my last bit of parts are in, including the roof rack. So, I be putting that on this weekend. Thanks for the info on the 80MPH with the roofrack. Have not had the Liberty on the freeway yet, so I was wondering how it would sould with the sunroof open with a basket. Also, the hitch carrier. Do you have one that goes straight back, our one that bends up around the spare tire a bit? I'm looking at getting one, and I also want to use a plastic box to protect items. But, I was thinking the tire might get in the way. |

Yes it was Kings Bay, I loved it thier and wish I was getting back to the area. Those chiggers bite literally. Here are some pics of my Hitch Cargo basket. The pieces: Basket, 8" hitch extension.
The space between my bumper and cargo.
Side view with 2 24 gallon action packer.
Rear view
On my trip to San Diego I had the basket loaded with 120lbs and had no problems. |

Do you have to use 2 pins with that thing? I do not have an extender on mine and its not all that bad with being close to the spare. It takes up some room but its not worth buying an extension. Looks like your set up to haul stuff though! |

Ya, I have two of the locking pins for it, I needed the extension for the boxes I am carrying, or it would not have worked. |
