8) I need sunglasses it's so clean, bright & shiny! Nice looking ride. I really like it in black. If you take it off road, you'll have to post some pics of the opposite extreme: covered from the tread to the luggage rack in mud!

Cool, it looks neat and clean (won't stay that long!) :) try to keep it clean, black KJ's coat gets damaged pretty quickly and shows every darn scratch, otherwise, it is one hell of a ride! :)

Thanks guys. I appreciate the warm welcome. I don't think this thing is going to be seeing much offroad time, as it's not what I'm about, but I do admit that I get frisky in the winter so I plan to have some fun when the snow falls. :D

I'm a performance guy, and while I know it would totally bastardize the Liberty's true intent, I wish they would make an SRT version of the liberty. I am laughing at even the thought of it - But lately I have had SRT on the brain, so to speak. Two friends just picked up SRT8s, one the Challenger, and the other the 300C version. The Challenger owner came down from Massachuetts for a visit, and showed off his new intake that he just had installed. Then he started in on me about putting one on my car - Of course I laughed, but the more he needled, the more I figured what the hell, let's clown it up! We ended up building a ghetto intake for the Liberty, and couldn't believe the sound change. We looked at just about every "performance intake" made for the car and aside from a few options, they were all just the usual conical filter and pipe. No thanks on paying $250-$300 for something that cost less than forty dollars at Pep Bizzoyz:

Call me crazy, but it helped. While the rig was no slouch before, the open intake helped both throttle response and pull at high RPM. But the real surprise was the sound - It gave the Liberty a growl that sounded laughingly close to the deep V8 roar of the SRT8. I know that sounds ridiculous, but watch the video! :D

But enough about that. Moving on to the Charger, here are the pics from yesterday. I now have a good amount of seat time and dudes, this is an intoxicating car. It is immeasurably fun right down to its addictive sound - I've been listening to too many inline sixes. I forgot how authoritatively a large displacement V8 can roar, and the SRT8 drops bass. I cannot imagine one with an exhaust, as the stock note sounds perfectly, insanely aggressive already. Sure the car is big, and a bit sloppy, but the brakes are well up to the task of stopping it, and it's a suspension upgrade away from fixing the wallow - which would probably hamper its prowess off the line.

A straight line shot is really what this car is about it, and just thinking about how well the SRT8 shoots forward brings a smile to my face. :D

Not to be outdone, I HAD to clown it up and get some "serious" shots of the Liberty.

I have thought that an SRT-6 KJ would be VERY slick... think you could have a KJ for dirt and pavement :D Guess the Nitro will fill that hole for some.

Nice shots of those rides. Really love the vid w/ the Lib, has a mean growl even compared to the SRT-8 .

Thanks guys! God help me, but I'm at it again with this thing. I just ordered a Gibson exhaust and I am debating on adding the 180 degree thermostat and Jet power programmer that requires high octane fuel. I know there is a Superchips option, but I don't know -anything- about the proper upgrade path for these rigs so I am now officially winging it. :D

I'm having more fun with this thing than I would ever have expected!

Interesting dialogue on another forum. Is there something about the Liberty that I should know?

What? Why? Why won't "Jeep Crew" accept me?

If you like it as a suv, fine. Just it shouldnt be called a jeep.

No SFA, no care.

I responded in kind and so far the haughty idiot has yet to return with a response, but I have to ask - WTF is that about?

I get this kind of snobbery/nonsense enough from the BMW and Porsche crowd, and didn't think to encounter it with this marque. :(

Is this atittude against the Liberty a common prejudice amongst Jeep owners?

yes it's somewhat common it's a slow process for us to be excepted,BUT I don't care what people think I know the liberty is just as capable as the other models in some cases more

we're an elite group here & have put the KJ thru some good tests to measure up to the others & when a KJ goes on a run with other models thier always impressed

all in all don't worry about it stick around here & learn & don't worry what others say, thier jealous

Wow.

That is frustrating and disappointing. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It's not like this kind of dickhead attitude is contained to any one manufacturer, as you're going to find this kind of nonsense everywhere - it's human nature I guess. :/

I am still enjoying the Liberty, and will continue to do so. :D

That right there is all that matters. WGAF what others think about your choice of vehicle. Maybe as soon as they start making your payments they can give opinions that matter.
You will find we, lost, don't put up with that kind of crap around here about other vehicles. If people like what they have we are happy for them. If they want to come along and wheel with us, Great. If they want to flame others about their choice of vehicle they can go to the other forums for that.

Nice looking KJ. Welcome!

Yeah. The KJ prejudice seems to have gotten better among other Jeep owners though. I think the Compass solved that for us lol (hmm maybe thats why Jeep made it). But yeah, most people who bash the KJ have never wheeled it and are then impressed by what it can do. I know it has impressed me. Oh, and you mentioned a performance chip. Personally, from what I've heard I would avoid those. Some even have had a negative effect. My final advice is to actually find a dirt road or trail and take the Jeep down it. Although right now it may not be your thing, you may find a new hobby and get bitten by the Jeep bug like the rest of us have.

Nice looking KJ. Welcome!

I couldn't agree w/ you anymore JJ, I've caught alot of crap the last couple weeks about my liberty and I've just blown every single person off. I make the payments on it being it's my first vehicle, like a few people on these boards, and I could care less what they think of it. I enjoy my KJ and don't regret getting it...every day I learn something new about it and it's just a fun vehicle all around.

Moral of the story...who gives a sh** what other people think...we all drive KJs and that's what we're happy w/. And we CAN show other people up on the trail!!! 8) Enjoy the KJ and hope to see you on the trail...if you later decide to take it offroading.
