Got some new MTs 245/75/16 w/NO LIFT

I posted more info in the "Tires, Tyres, Meats, Donuts" section.
here are some photos of my 2006 KJ without a lift or skids or wheel spacers. (nothing weighing it down)
the tires are the new Kuhmo Road Venture KL71 size 245/75/16

Looks greatly improved over stock, but pretty tight up front. What kind of rubbing are you experiencing? I was wondering how long I could get by with that size before lifting, nice of you to try it out first so I can hear your results :wink:

Those are pretty sharp. Gonna get the spare too? When is the lift coming?

Very little rubbing on the street, read the post in the Tires, Tyres, Meats, Donuts section of the forum. Thats were all the specifics are. I posted here too for better exposure, i fugured there are more people that are curious about this. Keep in mind all tires have different section widths once mounted and the wheel width plays a big part in that. Also from what i understand all KJs sit slightly different too. I have EMU HD springs just didn't have time to install that day. So far 231 miles on street and no issues.

Lift is this Saturday hopefully :lol:

spare when i get some more $$$. I know it looks like a poser, but its all i can do for right now. money is tight. :cry:

the tread width is 245mm but the overall contact patch varies with the width of the wheel is what i ment. Somewere on this forum a member posted side by side view of MTRs (same size) one mounted on stock 7" wide wheel and the other on a 8" wide wheel. the 8" wheel makes the tread spread out quite a bit - enough to not only effect the contact patch but also inner fender clearence (back spacing all a-side)

245 is the section width. I am curious as to what the actual tread measures, just a tape measurement. I am finding that there can be a pretty big tread width difference between different tires that are the same size. I tried to look it up but they dont advertise the tread width on that tire...at least not on tirerack.

Thanks, the good thing is that everyone I have asked has the same wheels. I figure what is hitting the ground is whats important. I dont have a lot of info gathered up but maybe I will start a thread and post what I have found out and see if anyone else is interested enough to add to it.

At 33psi on factory 7" wide rim and under load, the tread is approx. 7.875" from edge to edge of the widest tread blocks at the top of the tire (that is straight length and not the actual distance accross the crown) as a comparison, the measured distance accross the crown at the top is about 8.5" (the tires have alternating side blocks) sidewall to sidewall is approx. 9" maybe a little bit more.

LOOKING REALLY GOOD.......!

With time u may have to flatten that pinch weld, behind the front wheel... keep an eye on it.....
have an 02'Limited with 245/75/16's and about 2 days after they were installed, we had to modify mine..

As for the front side of the wheel, u may end up with rubbing on the fog light door.... i just gave up and it's been a year now, with just a hand-full of mud packed in there with no adverse effects to to fog light.....

This is a month after getting them....

I am a sign maker and sometimes have some down time. so i measured the curves of the hood and cut a decal. its the same stuff that comes on the SRT dodges. its Avery A9 matte black vinyl. its good for 9+ years before it fades and best part is its removable. I was toying with the idea of making a kit, including instructions, template, and application fluid and vinyl squegee, but i don't know how many people would be interested, also need to make sure the nice people running this forum wouldn't mind. I don't want to step on any toes around here.

that is sweet.... some type of flame or tribal thing might be cool to.....

i have just about any color vinyl, including metalics that you can wrap the entire car in and it'll look as good as paint.

Your KJ looks like mine did the day after I bought it. Except I threw on MTRs cazy rubbing on the front bumper. I like them tires you got though!
