i left the headlight ring black. i thought it was a good idea. i just used blue painters tape. the paint is just a rattlecan from the depot. the color is nearly a dead match. the only difference is the gloss finish.

It looks like it's either grey or gunmetal blue depending on the photo. Exactly what color is that? Also, what was the grille before and what was your painting process? You can't just post something cool and not tell people how you did it :)

it was all black. i took the grille off and washed it up in the bath tub. i first taped off the headlight rings where i didnt want to get any grey paint on. then hit the rest with 200 grit untill it was all smooth and grey. cleaned it up with some acitone. threw a coat of paint on & let sit. sanded that with 400 grit. applied about 5 more coats of paint then a few clear coats. the color is charcoal grey rustoleum. im really glad i did it. i kept thinking about it and even almost bought a used grille off ebay to test on. it was really easy. i wish i had done it months ago. thanks for the compliments. i do it just for you

That looks good. I have been thinking of painting mine the same color as my tail light guards, but have been nervous. Thanks for the how to.
