After getting shown up by the KJ on our last outing, the FJ owner showed up with a new 3 inch lift. On one particularly nasty wash crossing, everyone seemed concerned about whether or not the Liberty could make it across. I looked at it and told them, "No problem. She's been through worse." They all had their doubts but, as usual, the KJ made it through just fine. Traction Control is a wonderful thing. The photos were taken in the Black Hills area of northeastern Imperial County in California.

Very Nice! Are you planning to keep your factory wheels? I want to keep my 17" factory wheels and maybe look at spidertrax wheel spacers. What are your thoughts? |

It's good to see Jeep and Toyota people getting together and having fun rather than bashing each other on who is better. |

dieselenthusiast ~ Yup. I'll be keeping the factory wheels. The next set of tires, to replace the stockers, will most likely be 245/65/17 GY Wrangler Silent Armors unless another A/T comes out in that size before then. Sure would be nice if BFG would offer the KO in that size or even the Grabber 2. I was seriously considering a set of spacers but I'm concerned that I may introduce rubbing issues. So far, knock wood, the stock tires have done quite well in the desert. I may not have an extreme lift but, so far, the stock tire size, full skids and traction control are taking me through some pretty rough terrain and getting me to all the places I want to go. The next big addition to my KJ will be a new metal detector; this time a dedicated nugget shooter. So many gold placer sites in the area and so little time. On the trip where the above pics were taken we were actually out collecting Geodes. Gotta have some variety once in a while. As far as I'm concerned, it's not "what you four-wheel in" it's "that you four-wheel". Here is what our KJ replaced:
