Went for a ride on a forestry road last night. We summer camp here and were out for a drive with the kids.




Got about 6 miles down a road expecting to get out the other end and came upon this surprise...

I could not get around him, the bank dropped off into half packed skidder tracks and loose snow about 10" deep. I had no cell service and it was 7:00 pm. Didn't want to spend the night in the woods waiting for this guys help to help me. It looked like the skidder could not pull him up the hill either, there were foot deep ruts in the shale bed road. Those cherry trees must weigh quite a bit, you'd think that they would push those studded chains into the snow pack. Had to turn around there and go back.

Lift will be here on the 13th. Tires after that. Or maybe a winch.

Nice pics, so that was in the Alleghany? I rode around them forest roads quite a bit when I was in college in Bradford, PA. there is some fun stuff to be found there.

nice load of toothpicks, doesnt matter how much you weigh you can still get stuck. I got hung up on Wolf Creek Pass, chained etc had enough weight on should of made it but....sat for a day and a half!

tommud wolf creek pass is one of those passes not to be taken lightly. Like you said even chained vehicles will spend the night up there. Atleast you didn't go off the back side where the tight switchback happens!
