Bedlined, Painted, Soft 8's, GPS, Cobra 75, Rear Shelf, etc

Been a hectic week. Received the hard copy orders last week for my transfer from San Diego, CA to Whidbey Island, WA. Bad news is they are for this month, Good news, I'm able to hit Moab on the way up. So I had a lot to do in very little time. In addition to getting the house ready for the packers (be here Wednesday), finding a Travel Trailer, packing the stuff we are bringing, telling the wife no to this and that, I had a lot to do to the KJ to get here halfway ready for Moab. Most is a long list of things that I have been putting off.

So the long list of mods that I got knocked out over the past 4 days...

Cragar Soft 8's (16x7). Had to get rid of my American Racing ATX Victors, bought 4 months ago, been waiting since to find a spare, still on back order, not rolling Moab or a 1600 mile trip without a spare...

Find a rack for the Spare... Loved the Defenders, but my goodness the cost, found this one on ebay from a local FJ wheeler who won it at the Calico Cleanup last month. The KJ's out there that day really impressed him, especially JJsKJ's SFA. Lights, really a rack is naked with out lamps up there, still need to finish the wiring...

Rear

Bedline the beltline down, fenders and bumpers. Put two coats of metallic graphite on after the three coats dried. Also remounted that !@#$ front plate that keeps getting ripped off (straight to the bumper, that extra inch kept getting caught).

Please ignore the mess in the garage, I'm trying to move :shock:

Istallled the Cobra 75wx-st. So far big improvement over the Cobra 19 I was using, and no space to take up.

Found a Lowrance Xog GPS, for on/Offroad Navigation. So far very pleased with it, it'll get the real shake down, in two weeks.

Finished my Trail Toolbox, and Air tank mounting. It aint pretty, built with scrap from the garage, but they won't move, so I might as well use it. Lined it with bedliner also.

Lastly, fabbed a rear shelf to keep things hidden in back, and a place for the pups to ride on trail runs. Finished it off with a coat of bedliner also.

I still need to Mount Dloc's Rock Rails, and my Hi-Lift, and I'll be done.

Looks like you've been a busy guy! BTW...kudos on the tool box... that is pretty sweet. I think I may just have to do that.

Thanks, It works well, fits perfectly, just deep enough too. Now I need to get everything stowed back in it...

Nope I just took some measurements and cut. I'll remeasure for you in a moment.

***Back is 49 long, front is 43 long, total depth is 22.5. The narrow section is 5" deep (3x5 cutout) with a 5/8 dowel rod.***

Nearly goes all the way to the door at the edges, but the door has a small amount of curve to it. So there is a gap in the center, nearly an inch. I wasn't going to try to get that cut right. This works fine for me.

What kind of bedliner did you use, it kind of looks uneven with texture heavy in some spots and light in others? I have always really liked the look of the bedliner fenders and bumpers.

I used Plasikote brand. It is fairly even, the problem I think is the paint I used. Some areas came out duller and others super shiny. So on the pics, the shine areas bling so much that it hides the texture more. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to repaint it after staring at it for a day. Probably a matte color.

I think matte would look better, but I still think your Jeep is sweet, I just built a rear shelf like yours, I think everyone should have the shelf, it will hide your stuff below as well as add extra area to store things.

I also really like your front bumper cut, i have been wanting to do this for a while, but I have been unsure about how to finish up the corners, a lot of people have cut the corners up high by the parking lamp, but I like the way you did yous down lower.

Thanks, Trying to decide between a dark gray of black for the bottom now. Got 10 cans of the gray, same shade as the rear shelf, just not sure if I like it... Dont want to mask and spray again, and again, and again you know.

the bedliner all around works.
also i love that front cut-up bumper!
i am goign to move my hella 500s from their bracket on the front to drilling straight through the bumper on the front!
i will def. be cutting my front bumper this summer! don't have the time right now.

I've been considering hard mounting one of these to the front bumper. Use a washer or two as make up space between the bumper and cover, so the shape doesn't get distorted.

Dude, I was thinking the same thing for mine. Instead JHCRASH is making a stinger for me that I am going to mount to the top of the bumper. He is the same guy who has been fabbing those nice bumpers.
