Looking for KJ pics with settled OME MD lifts, not the fresh installs, but a few thousand down the road. If you have a blue 04 with OME MD front and rear, the "mechna..." wheels and 245/70/16's you'll really make my day. Thanks Dave |

I'm considering OME because I've always wanted to lift it, but I don't want to go to big, run 245/75's kill my mileage because I'm beginning college next fall, and it's a 7 hour trip each way to go from home to school. And due to my moms getting worse by the day (stroke 4 yrs ago) there are good chances of emergency trips, and also we already have to almost lift her into it. But Woody, w/o adding a bumper what about would be he total lift? I've seen 2.5 I've seen 1.1. ( I can get MD for 100 bucks cheaper from Rusty's than any other deal) I want better ride, a few inches of lift, but keep it mild for a jeep thats 90% highway. Thanks, Dave More pics welcome (from the sides would be great) |

I went all OME. Shocks and HD springs. Built them myself and installed em myself. No Rustys stuff. I love the ride of the HD's MD's are just as good. just HD's are for the bumper and extras. I got 3.5 to 3.75 inches the day I installed. I am not like most of these guys where I put a tape messure to the KJ every week and guage the sag rate. I do not precieve any sag. I don't really care about sag. It rides GREAT, Much better than chrysler EVER designed it to do. I was able to move from 17" to 16" tires (cheaper and more selections), and put it where it should be, above all the civics and corollas on the road. |

Here you go dave all I have of the KJ with the lift after several thousand miles can not tell much but it is on a log pile that a stock FJ can not climb ,front end can not get up just plows into it it has the OME Med coils with Rancho struts and OME shocks we run 245/75 MTR's milage loss on the highway is about 1.5-2 miles on the gallon so not that bad we need to do some rear bump stop spacers and we pounded the pinch welds but that was it we got a very very slight rub after 10K+ miles on some fender plastic up front at full lock ,not worried rides better than stock this is my wives DD if that helps you decided what to do she hates my TJ ,31" bias ply super swampers 3" of lift ,detroit out back, and a soft top so it rides and drives like poop oh yeah and the KJ got 2.25 or so inches of lift over where it was after 36K on the OE suspension it now has 55K

great question as that is where I am headed as well. Medium lift with just tow hooks and skids. No heavy bumpers or winches......for now |

So...what if someone decided to go with HD instead of MD? Any advantage such as higher lift/less progressive sag? (I'm not getting an ARB or winch but I do plan on having a lot of gear in the rear) |

I think the lift is the same, HD vs. MD, just stiffer ride, which is better in my book. Springs are stopped by the full extend of the shocks, so no more lift. |

OME MDs and 245-70s with about 8k of wear-in. Rake is pretty much the same as stock. Tires look a little small in the wells but not absurdly so. Better clearance (duh). Much better ride. And no lost mileage.

OME HD springs/shocks front and back after ~ km 17.000 / 10.600 miles. Very nice ride. I've recently driven with a trailer loaded with about 1.000 kg and you hardly can't see it - nearly the same height in the back as on the picture.
