Post subject:  2004 Limited - MOAB's, Destination A/T's, Stock Suspension.
Got everything mounted today...5 Firestone Destination A/T's 245/70/16 on MOAB's from a 2003 Rubicon. They have their fair share of rock rash and scratches but you cant really tell unless up close. I do have some rubbing at the fog light door, nothing horrible, I'll take care of it after the spring semester is over. I had them take the TPS valves out of my old wheels and put them in the new ones, after some hesitation they did it with no problem...just needed new seals. Overall I am very happy with the look. Keep an eye out in the for sale section for my old wheels :). Hope ya like it.

EDIT: I'd like to add that the Jeep seems much more stable now. Before the new tires and wheels I would get jostled around in my seat when going over speed bump sized bumps at low speeds, this seems to have been eliminated with the new tires an wheels. Prolly due to the bigger/better quality tires and wider stance.

P.S. While I was waiting at the tire shop, some guy was getting an oil change done. One of the the mechanics came in and goes, "Looks like you're gonna need an air filter for your Grand Cherokee, its gonna be $37.50 additional." I felt like beating the piss out of him, thirty seven fifty to change a friggin air filter...I know they mark up on stuff but thats absurd.

I just ordered 5 Firestone DEST AT's 245/75/16 to slap on my new moabs from a 04 TJ. I see more and more guys here are using firestone Dest at's

I bet you have fun coming south on I-287 in the morning :) I take 287 North to Rt. 80 to get to school...last Monday morning it was bumper to bumper. :)
I live in Wayne (not to far from Glen Rock...maybe I can pester ya for some help if I ever get a lift :) ), but I've been in PA for the past 8 months at school.
The spring semester is over May 2nd, my last final is May 8th.

I was thinking about it, but a lift would do me no good other than looks considering I have only the skid from the factory (Tranny? correct me if I'm wrong) or tow hooks for that matter.
As for the next addition I'll prolly get a set of auxillary lights, I've been looking into them for the last 2 months or so, just have had no time or tools to do them at school.

You should notice it handles a little better in the corners too.

2004 liberty comes with zero skid plates unless you have the offroad package.

Im not sure if youve ever looked but it seems to me like you dont have tow hooks either but its hard to tell from the angles.

Moabs look good though! Im kinda partial to them myself. 8)

I know this is going to kill your day but unless you added the skids on your own I don't think you have the skids either. When you order them new with the jeep (new) the skids always came with the tow hooks as well.

I just put on the same tires but one size down in 240/70/16 and I have no rubbing issues during normal driving. However, when off road and full stuff my rear wheels will rub, I don't think I had/have any issues in the font at all. The rear rubbing that I had was only enough to be a sounds, but no damage and when even your wheels are in full stuff you're going very slow off road or your about to roll over on the highway and you won't care. With 245/70 I think you might have to worry about ripping off some plastic from your fenders or rubber from your tires and that might happen just from hard turns.

But this is just from what I have a read and my own experience with my tires. If yours fit without a lift I would love to know about it. I love when other people test things out for me.

They fit just fine with no lift, I have minor rubbing in the front at the fog light door, nothing that can be heard from inside.

I have the 245 70 16 Destination ATs and the only time I get any rubbing is if I have it turned all the way and go in reverse (a 3 point turn). Otherwise I have had no problems at all... Mine are on the stock 04 limited rims but I doubt that has anything to do with it.

I have the 245 70 16 Destination ATs and the only time I get any rubbing is if I have it turned all the way and go in reverse (a 3 point turn). Otherwise I have had no problems at all... Mine are on the stock 04 limited rims but I doubt that has anything to do with it.


The stock 04 Limited Rims are 16x7 with 5.5 inch Backspacing. The Moab Rims are 16x8 with 5 inch back spacing...this is the reason I have rubbing, wider wheels that stick out further.
