Well I went and played around a little bit and decided to see how much these things helped. Needless to say, it turned into me climbing on top of rocks that I shouldn't have been on top of.

A straight rock ledge this size would normally be impossible to take straight-on...

Found some that the narrowed bumper could just squeeze through... the previous pic is of the rock on the driver's side

No problems... took both vertical ledges straight on

Like I said... climbing things I shouldn't be able to

So now I know that if my bumper can squeeze through I can climb a 90 degree ledge straight on.... pretty cool. Front approach is still limited by the tow hooks but once it's lifted with bigger tires I'll have to test it again.

So why don't you chop the bumper some more and make it a stubby? Just leave the tubular looking parts of the original bumper?

Th bumper can't be any narrower than it is... the metal unibody bumper is up against the sides of the plastic. Can't go any smaller unless you start cutting metal off.
