Post subject:  Bout time!

So I finally replaced the taillight I broke 6 weeks ago at Haspin Acres, just in time to break another one at the same place! I scored both '05-7 KJ taillights on fleabay for $44.96 shipped 8)

Ignore the coolant jugs...I took them out today because I've had a properly functioning radiator for ALMOST A WHOLE WEEK!!! And this post is partially dedicated to my surprise at how much DIFFERENT the taillights look.

Guess you need to change your location from "land of the busted taillights" now.

Is there some kind of trick to taking off the tail lights? I removed the 2 hex screws but it wouldn't come out. Seems like something is holding onto the body.
Help

Once you get the screws out, they need a good tug to get them out. The first time especially. Just pull straight back.

but remember to pull STRAIGHT OUT!

Plastic tabs and rubber gromments securing them in. Give a slight wiggle. just don't torque out the plastic tabs. strong but will break.

little spit on the tabs for re-assembly, slide right in.

Uh...no  The all-makes all-models stuff was sufficing, until I replaced the radiator.

Now it's still sufficing with all-makes all-models stuff

oh, and FYI, they're not hex screws, they're T20 torx screws.

the first time I had to pull one out (at 55kish miles) it was a PAIN to pull it out. now it's easy...since i've replaced all the bulbs at least once
