So my friend and I went out to try Moon Rocks about 30-45 minutes outside Reno. The place is awesome. We were hoping to see some really crazy buggy action because of the holiday weekend but no luck. Other than some ATVs we had the place to ourselves which was kind of cool too. My buddy picked up this 97 TJ with a Dana 60 and a Ford 9 with lockers, and 39" Iroks. His jeep ha zero troubles going over any and all obstacles there... me not so much... I need lockers. He is fairly new to wheeling and wanted a rig he didn't have to mess with too much but can run the rubicon and fordyce with no issues. From what I saw today he is pretty much good to go. The KJ did pretty good. We spent most of the day testing his new TJ and seeing what he could do and what he felt comfortable doing, so the KJ kind of took a back seat to his which was cool. Overall they both performed well and it was a blast. Now the part everyone cares about:

This is the only time he got a tire off the ground. He took a harder line than he needed to just for fun (there was HUGE boulder on his passenger front side). He ended up leaning into the tree.

I went up this first then turned around for pics

Overall we took it really easy but still had some fun too.

I had never been there before either. I had driven by like 500 times, but never knew it was like 1/2 mile up the road form my old stomping grounds. Really fun place, just like little moab I just went to over in Utah this spring.

Go out Pyramid Highway about 15 miles I think. Take a left on Winnemucca Ranch Rd and go until it turns to dirt road, watch for the big rocks on the left.

Let me know if you do, I'd love to go again. The guy with the TJ wants to hit it up again in a few weeks so if we go before you we'll definitely let you know. Sorry we didn't this time. I'll post it here in the Norcal section and pm you as well as post it on the reno 4x4 site.
