Post subject:  Update: Frankenlift & Moabs

Hey guys...finally got fed up with my OTT lift and put on a Frankenlift I, Al's A-arms and Moabs/MTR's. The ride is great and she's quiet again (for now). No more banging and clunking! Here's the new pics (I know, they're in my driveway...haven't had a chance to hit the trails yet).

Looks nice & even.. No more raked front end... Any rubbing issues? Are the Tires loud on the road?

That's the same set up I am running and the MTRs are loud on the road compared to the ATs I had on it before. But the funny thing is that on my rig at least they seem quieter at freeway speeds :?: . They are awesome offroad though. Not much chance of me trying them in the mud here in the desert, but in sand and rocks they are great.

Sorry for the hijack... now back to our regularly schedules post :D

Yeah, they do look big...maybe it's just these pics. They have a nice hum on the road, but I love it. Thanks for the compliments guys.

Wow, I was figuring 265s or maybe 285s. Those look good. And that is really a nice colour, I have never seen that before, but it looks sharp.

I'm assuming you didn't have to hammer down the pinch welds right?

Actually I did the pinch weld mod when I had 31's on it last year, but I probably would have done it anyway. They rub a little bit at full lock and off road.

love that look!
(kinda like "love that joker!")

i gotta question for yall... i need new tires but can't afford the lift right now... if i do get the lift after about a year, will the tires (BFG 235/70/16) ((with a franky and HD's)) still be sufficient?

Will 235's be big enough to look good with a lift? I think that was your question...I guess it wouldn't look too bad. I would either wait and get new tires next year or somehow get the lift now. Or wait until the new tires need replacing before you get the lift. Or...get yourself the 235's and a lift smaller than 2.5". Perhaps a RevTek 2" lift or even a custom 1.75" lift using isolators and a clevis lift.

PS - Thanks for the compliments guys.

go up to 245 70X16s for new tires will fit without too many problems just slight rub when full locked, I ran mine for 20,000 or so before I stepped up to somewhat bigger
