I managed to get my hands on a set of BFG 245/75R16 AT KO's for my Libby.


All I was looking for was a tire with a more agressive tread but these 245's really fill out my wheel wells. I haven't tried them out on a trail yet but they seem to ride well and only rub at full lock.

Oddly enough when I compare my GPS speed to my speedometer it's actually more accurate than when I was running on 235's. I guess I don't need to have my PCM configured for the larger tires do I?

It's an OTT lift that I bought from somebody that told me it was a Rusty's.

I'm having problems with the stock front struts failing so I'm shopping for a proper Rancho/OME coil combination up front.

I find with my 32" tires when i drive through one of those speed zones where they use the display to tell you how fast you are going it seems to be dead on now. I think the speedometers these days must be rigged. Even my new car says i am going faster than what the radar says.

at a minimum get the Bumpstops - that'll keep your struts alive (they won't hurt on the OME lift either)

When installing a new lift, how many extended bumpstops should be ordered?

The ones I linked to are the fronts - and most of the places are selling them separately so you need 2.

Rears - are more to keep the tires from hitting the fenders and folks use hockey pucks or rubber hammer heads.

Just to clarify something...

Extended front bumpstops are only required on Libby's with an OTT lift right? Libby's with proper lifts that include longer coils & struts up front don't need extended bumpstops do they.

Well - They're definitely needed for OTT - there's some discussion about full spring/strut kits

OME designs theirs so that if you bolt it in - the upper A arm will hit the factory bumpstop before the strut internals.

but if you add a Clevis lift or upper strut plate (or the Frankenlift spacer)- you're moving out of the design window.

Worst case - you add bumpstops and lose ~ 1" of upward movement.

I had a Daystar and I didn't have bumpstops and killed the front springs from coilbind.

I now have all OME and I added the bumpstops as a precaution, on my next tires I may add Clevis/upper plate - haven't decided yet.
