Surco Safari rack mounted

Here is my KJ with the newly mounted Surco Safari rack. It is the 45" wide rack. As you can see the rack has cross bars already. I used U-bolts that I plasti-coated black to mount to the stock rails. The rack seems stout with the exception of the interior bottom bars. They are thin aluminum and in between the support rails they tend to flex with a heavy load in the rack. I would say unless you are carrying a heavy very small load (something that will fit in between the support rails) this rack will carry just about anything you want. I plan to have my spare tire up there in the next few weeks.
Franky is in the mail and I have 5 MOABs with MT/Rs mounted in the garage waiting to be installed. I also plan to remove the side steps once the lift and tires are on.

do you think a person around 180-220 can fit in that rack as a joke and not break the cross rails??

And can you take a picture of looking down to see the gaps between the rails on the basket cause i have not seen a view like that yet

It is the 45x50 rack. I like the rack so far. No more noisy than the stock renengade rack and looks good.
I wish I could have come up with something besides the U-bolts. They look ok but isn't the cleanest look.

I would like to see the pics of the rack that the guy added a floor too. I have been considering doing that but was concerned it would add road noise (air not being able to flow thru the rack as easily).

Its funny zip ties were mentioned. I had it zip tied to the bars to hold it exactly in place while I tightened the u-bolts. I used the really large 1" zip ties. It was really sturdy with those things and I even considered for 1 split second to keep them on there.

yea it looks like it would be alot better than the standard floor that it comes with, that one looks like you would loose some stuff up there lol
