I was trying to find a way to install hooks in the holes between the stock bumper.

Can't figure it out.

Jeep Dawg got it to work apparently:

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=27507&highlight=brush+guard+tow+hooks

as well as a few others:

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=887&highlight=brush+guard+tow+hooks

But it is not an easy process to make work out from what I hear...

That's pretty nice. Do you think you could push a disabled vehicle with that guard w/o damaging it?

My brother had a grille guard on his Nissan Xterra and pushed a pickup truck bigger than his without even damaging his truck or guard. It was blocking him in and he needed to get out of his parking spot. Came in useful.

from what i've seen grille guards are the opposite of their label.. when someone hits something (like a deer) with a grille guard... it pushes back the guard taking out the bumper, grille, lights sometimes, and hood sometimes... instead of without the guard which wouldve just taken out the bumper. it's nice looking though.. and it could probably push grocery carts around in the wal-mart parking lot but i'd say that's about it :)

If you hit a deer or anything else like a car with or without a guard you'll do a lot of damage to your vehicle (more than just your front bumper). I do agree that with a guard installed, a light hit 5-10 mph, you'll do more damage to your vehicle than not having one on at all. I heard that from a body shop owner. It does look good with it on though.

your right i was talking about a lower hit on a truck (and with bumper damage normally bumper bracket damage).. i've worked in my dad's body shop for the last 10 years 8)

Are bull bars any better or just the same?

bulls can be much better than a huge majority of grill guards, however they are succeptible to the same 'leverage' action issues

if they're heavy enough tube, with heavy enough mounts with a broad enough mounting plate they can be fine under most circumstances

most of the bulls for our vehicles are 'decoration only' and you can shake or push them in with your hand
