So far I love it. Ran the back way to Crown King and made obstacles I'd normally have to bypass. I was running obstacles in 2wd too which was nice. Only problem is some whining noise (like when a diff is out of fluid). Not sure what is causing that. :( Any ideas?

IIRC, there is some whining for the first couple hundred miles

ThunderbirdJunkie had no whining.

On a 2nd note, that is only the 2nd Patriot Blue KJ ThunderbirdJunkie has seen with an Aussie ;)

I figured out what the whining is!! Sweet. See the area circled in the picture? Those "threads" on the left of the bearing are a round ring that isn't that thick with a hole in the center for the axle shaft to go through. There is also another one on the other side. This picture is from the locker install. I never took off the passenger side bearing cap thankfully. What happened when I put the drivers side cap back on was this threaded ring wasn't inserted properly. This caused the whole carrier/gear ring to shift towards the drivers side diminishing it's contact with the pinion and causing things to come loose overall. Hence the play in the carrier I mentioned above. What I had to do was get this ring out and push the whole carrier towards the passenger side until it was tight, then push the bearing cap over the bearing on the drivers side, and while holding all of that thread this ring in until it set tight. This would hold everything into place. The problem with this setup is that the threaded ring only sits half in the threads, so the slightest bump will cause it to fall out. So while holding all of this together I had to put the "bearing cap" cap on including this neat little part that is a bent piece of metal and goes into one of the grooves on the threaded ring and bolts to the top of the "bearing cap" cap. It took a bit of trickery but I finally got the darn blessed thing in and bolted in tight. After that the backlash was super minimal and the side-side play was almost non existent. Took it for a test drive to the QT. There was NO WHINING!! The locker seemed a lot quieter, I could barely hear it turning corners with the windows down, and there was no clunks or anything else. Tired but happy!!

Yep :D I skipped the obstacle in these pictures last time I came through here. Was scared. This time I ran it easily.

Digger,
I'm kinda glad it happened cuz now I know how all that stuff works in the 8.25 :D
