Pictures tell a thousand words. Can you guess which words I had to hold back when this happened today:

I was alone and it was a "failure to maintain lane" situation (other driver didn't realize both lanes went the same direction and turned into me when he thought it was an empty lane of oncoming traffic). No injuries other than a temporary increase in blood pressure and the other guy's deductibles in a month or two.

We'll see what the damage is, but I'm most worried about the squeezed clearances where the CB antenna mount is located (near the window glass). I didn't think the quarter panel took that much damage otherwise, but the impact could have shoved the whole thing slightly back and buckled the seam back by the tailgate. This is my first experience with damage on the KJ so I don't know where the weak spots of the sheet metal are or where things typically fold.

Crossing fingers for no uniframe damage down near the door-sill...

Sorry to hear. Glad you are ok.

Do all the doors open and close ok?

Both side doors are opening okay, but both seem to exhibit slight buckling of the paint and sheetmetal skin, so I hope the damage is just to the doors themselves and not the frame or structural sections. The rear glass did hesitate a little when I "popped the trunk" with the key release, which had never happened before.

Looking for a very meticulous shop right now that will take the time to measure everything properly and tell me what's off.

The important thing for me for now is no-one was injured and both car seats in the back are still safe and accessible :)

Did it hesitate as in it got caught, or it just stopped mid air? Mine stops midair on occasion....the struts for the glass are worn. :)

That may be the case and, after the fact, it behaved normally, so perhaps just the jolt of impact made it a little "sticky". I'm going to dig up the photos from my original CB installation to compare the tolerances. I don't know how much that can be repaired short of drilling out and replacing the entire quarter-panel en-masse.

My obsessive nature needs to know if it's actually damaged or if I'm just imagining things. I can accept unrepairable damage but not the inability to determine if it's damaged in the first place. I have an appt with a body shop that does all the repairs for the local Bentley dealer this afternoon :)
