Post subject:  bored picture post :)
i'm bored so i thought i'd share one of my favorite pics... it was taken last fall when we visited friends in Indiana and went to the covered bridge festival...

Old wooden covered bridges are becoming more and more rare since they can't handle the weight of the bigger and bigger vehicles. Ohio still has a bunch of them. I rememebr going over a few to get to my aunts house as a little kid. Love them because they are scary to go over. One had holes in the flooring and you could see the water below.

Edwin, I lived in Paris, TX for two years and made many trips throughout the countryside by vehicle and by road bike. Never encountered any scary bridges....just scary Texans......LOL! :lol:

Tokio, next time you pass this way, look me up. I'll show you some scary bridges. Oh yeah, we all look scary to the rest of the world. :wink:

We have quite a few in Virginia. The scariest bridge I've been on was the Royal Gorge bridge in Colorado. :shock:

I've been on that bridge and have it's picture as well! That is a cool festival to go to. Unfortunately, the big covered bridge located by the shops and place where everyone sets up was burned to the ground by some dumb-a** kids. They are rebuilding it, but it's no longer the nice old double span it used to be.

What's really scarry, is if you go under the bridges and inspect the bridge piers on a hot summer day when water flow is nearly zero! The foundations on most of them have been scoured away from decades of floods, and are barely supporting the bridges! :shock:

nice rene and photo too. i've never seen one of them bridges in real life but still hope they never dissapear.

Southwest Va. and northest Tn. have a ton of bridges like that :D
