It looks like I can get ahold of the front and rear axles out of a JK Rubi, with the lockers still in them, would these be a good start on the collection of parts for a swap?

I snatched up a set of the JK Rubicon axles for my Mitsubishi Pickup and they have been great. I think I paid $2650 for the set from my local Jeep dealer. If I were to add a solid axle to my Liberty this would be the way I would go. They come with disk brakes, they are set up for ABS, have 4.10 gears, elockers, tpms, HP front end, and they are beefier than a standard Dana 44. The only real downside to the JK 44 that I see is the stupid 5 on 5 wheel pattern.

Yeah it's a complete no brainer, I would also go with Fox coilovers and long arms. With the coilovers there is really no need for a swaybar in the front end.

What is TPMS?

tire pressure monitor system...it either goes on the valve steam or around the rim...the us dot decide that to many ppl were traveling w/ the tires to low which resulted in higher gas consumption, pre-mature blow outs due to the side wall having extensive ware...this devise will tell you when you tires are below operation pressure...all 2007 and up cars sold in the US have them and they want it possible to have all cars w/ tpms by 2010...the bad side to tpms is if it gets just the slightest moisture on it it will fail...they are not cheap...another problem is they can be damage if you have a sudden blow out or a tire tech is not careful and breaks it when doing a tire change...also just another electronic in your vehical just gives another reason for a high bill from the stealer ship...FYI

I am not that familiar with these axles, spenceevans. How are they beefier than a D44? Say, a 1/2" thick axle tube D44 from the late '70's?

hmmmm....i'll have to disconnect my anti-rock and get back to you on that statement......not sure I agree w/ it on the heavy KJ. I don't have a rear bar but I have been considering adding an anti-rock to teh rear as allyrands (w/ rear anti-rock) appears to be a little more stable on-road taking corners than mine.

So, how about sharing more info and build pics, etc on your truck over in the Other 4x4 section? I remember reading you were doing this swap and it would be cool to see and hear the details.

Thanks for teh pics. When you get a chance, How about a write-up on your whole front end w/ pics, etc? Also curious where your coil-overs are set? (where is the top of srpings in relation to the threaded shock body?)

I'm thinking we need some more detailed comparisons and discussion between the various versions that are actually running around getting wheeled and daily driven, etc. about spring settings, sway bars, etc.

Would be good to get all that info into its own thread for others to peruse.

I'll get pics today and start the thread. (unless someone beats me to it)
