So i found a couple of axles and wondering which ones i should go with. thanks. For the libby SFA http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148309 http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148003 http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=147828 http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=147526 here they are. let me know which ones well work the best for front and rear. i got my eyes set on that dana 60 for the rear though. also or should i buy this for 600 and get two dana 44''s out of it http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148167 here are more http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1150229477.html http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1159262558.html http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1158395219.html http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1158085186.html http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1125879461.html |

Keep looking. None of those are worth anything, atleast not for what you have planned, and the Dana 60's are too much. I got mine for $150 complete and already sandblasted. XJ 27 spline axles are a downgrade from your already 29 spline 8.25. XJ D44's really aren't worth the extra money over the 8.25 you have now, except you can run 4:88 gears instead of 4:56 gears, and I wouldn't run 4:88 gears in the front D30 anyways, so a waste of money there. Waggy axles more work then they are worth. Scouts, same story. Either find a 97-99 XJ HPD30, or a 77 or older Ford HP44/9" combo. Stay way from 78-79 HP44's as they have cast radius arm wedges that cannot be cut off and are right in the way of putting your own bracketry on. If you are patient and keep looking, the right deal will come along. I have a complete front F250 HP44 and complete rear D60, and (4) H2 aluminum rims with 35" BFG AT's with tread still on them, with only $600 invested. |

http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1165732115.html The HPD30 in the link above would be a great deal, skip the rest, don't touch the rear aluminum 44. Skip on that one Durangotang. Here is another couple seriously worth considering: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148523 Dana 60 #2 for $400 http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148225 http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148210 This one might need a little research to find out spline count and WMS-WMS, but you can pick up 9's pretty cheap and just take the third member out of this one and put it in the correct width, as long as it is a 31 spline: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=147981 And this one just posted about five minutes ago. About $1000 more than I would spend, but I'm sure he can be talked down atleast $500-$700 with cash. The biggest benefit of TJ/LJ axles is if you are going to go stock width axles, these already have the correct mounts front and rear for my SFA kit.: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148557 http://cosprings.craigslist.org/pts/1159040433.html If you had no choice other than to get a Waggy front LPD44, here is your perfect match rear axle: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1175050994.html Incase you want to run 40" tires: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1168226841.html This one should be a serious consideration. It has the nodular third member, which is hard to find and extremely strong: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1145425304.html If you can save up and wait for a prebuilt axle, you can save a lot of money, just keep checking the CO4x4 board. If you are serious about starting the parts pile, shoot me a pm or email or post on here and I can let you know if it is worth considering. I highly recommend if you aren't sure, please ask first, because there are a lot of axles out there they may seem like they are the right ones, but can be from from it, and it could all just be a matter of being one wrong year. Example: 78-79 front HP44's. Everything is right, except they have cast radius arm wedges, not welded. Won't work for an SFA on a KJ. Well, it could, but you would need to run stock Ford radius arms and some custom welding and modification. Not my first choice, but it could be done. Seen it done on XJ's quite a bit, and if you know how to do it, may actually save you a good chunk of money, just a little more sweat and blood to sacrifice. |

Quote: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1171640033.html Skip the 8.25,Lincoln locked and only 27 splines, you already have a stronger 8.25 then that one. Quote: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1134491458.html Skip this one it is only the housing and you have to pay extra for the center section, you can get a complete 9" for less then what he is selling it for. Quote: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148691 Does not list what the rear D60's come out of,there are some non-desirable rear D60's.The HP44 front is good, skip the front D60(not the year you want plus it is a LP). Quote: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1160574543.html EB axles are pretty good but are narrow. Quote: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1175116227.html Only '96.5-'99 XJ's have the HP30 front axles, pass on the rears since your 8.25 is stronger.Quote: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=148496
The front D60 here will not work since it is a passenger side drop and you need a drivers side drop. |

Yeah, but it's not hard to swap the axles in the HPD30 either. Worth it if you get it for near-free ITBJHO |

Yeah, I mentioned that in a PM, that if a good deal comes along on an HP30 pre96 with gears and locker already, then jump on it and swap the shafts/ujoints, which are fairly cheap relatively speaking. |
