Is this guys review from tirerack even plausible? If so, man this is outright horrible -- I love the looks of these tires, but the reviews are ALL over the place. some love them, others hate, others get decent performance while my tire shop confirmed that you really get what you pay for. Said they have troubles with these and several folks have returned them due to uneven tread wear on individual lugs very quickly, balancing problems and a huge decrease in gas mileage. He also stated, don't even consider using these in deep snow or especially ICE where we live, the minimal siping and deep lugs don't help the wet/snow/ice case. I for one still think its a great looking design, especially for the $$, but am leary with all the mixed reviews...here's the one I'm sure you have all read on tirerack.com:

I have had these tires for just over a year, aprox. 25000miles, (that is a generous estimate)and they are bald. I have had them rotated 4 times since purchase, air pressure was a constant 35psi. I bought the tires for the treadwear warranty, cant be honored because treadwear was under the 2/32 range. The only plus with these tires was that the tirerack gave me a discount with my purchase, I will do business again.

I've read several complaints where the treads literally flew off the tire driving on the highway, tearing up his fenders, wheel wells and such. One guy said no matter what, they could not get them to balance on the balancing machine (just bouncing and vibrating all over) and they were deemed completely out of round. Another guy had one tire lose its treads at only 300 Km. These kinds of things stick out as you go to purchase.

Also, what are everyones thoughts about the sidewalls only being 2-Ply? Aren't alot of other AT's 3+ ply??

I do know, that everyone's KJ that has these shoes, absolutely looks awesome!!! Like others have said, this is what the jeep tires should look like stock. For $86/tires, you'd think DC would dump the horrendous Wranglers and get better rubber on these rims. ;)

Hey thanks for the insight guys, I was planning on doing this research myself till I found this thread today. My local Ford dealership is running a special selling tires for 10% over cost. This puts them around $89 with $15 install, rotation, and warranty (no deal on 4th or 5th free though :( ). I am pulling the trigger tomorrow.

I haven't heard of any tread seperation issue or wearing out too quickly before. Mine have close to 20K on them and they still have a lot of tread left.

that's a big vote of confidence for me. thanks for the reply. Being that the look-alike KO's run about $60 more per tire, those are next on my list. We'll see how my new ones ride for a while...well it better be a long while. ;)
