I use my soft 8's for winter and offroading w/245/75/ 16 bfg ko's and 235/65/17 w 17" alloys for summer use and really don't see much difference w/mpg's.

Woodys,
I've got the 16x8 Sodt 8's with 5" BS (chrome, not black but shoud be the same). I run a 265/70/16, at full stuff up the front I make contact where the pinch weld used to be (only when turning). The rest of the front is fine, in the rear I have 2 sping spacers & a 1" bump stop. I also had to cut about 10 to 15mm off the inside of the flare & bend the pinch weld (top to front of wheel arch). I should think that a 245 X 75/16 would be a less of a problem but as I've now done this I will continue to use the same size tyre.

I should think that if I was to go to a 265/75/16 I would require bigger bump stops in the rear & something in the front. Not sure how it would go up front when at full stuff & tyring to turn.

Hope that's what your wanting to hear, if you like I can take some pics of the wheel arch in the rear & the front.

Adam and CD,

Thanks thats is what I am looking for . Who is the manufacturer fo your soft 8's?

Are there any major diferences between the different makers of the same/similar style?

I would love pics if you can. I am assuming that "Full Stuff" means full rack on a turn.

Who's bump stops did you install?

Funny,

But seriously, who makes em and where can i find some actual bump stops? This KJ has only 9,500 miles on it and at the rate i am going the lift wont be on until it reaches 12,000. I really don't want to Jerry Rig anything on here, yet.

I keep seeing Daystar on here. can i get the bump stops as a seperate pair of only poart of their kit, which i do not need.

Yes you can get Daystar bump stops but consider the hockey pucks Rock lizard has a great write up on how to do it on his site , its not jerry rigging anything just saving you some money to use on other projects

I will check it out on RL's site.

thanks

Okay that looks easy enough, if I was working on the front end of a XJ.

There can't be too big of a difference. but don't the bumpstops on the KJ mount to the UPPER spring mount?

and don't the like squeeze in to a mount for them?

you can install them on the bottom spring perch... drill a hole through them ( the pucks) and the lower spring perch and bolt them in. There is another pst somewhere that has pics of doing it on the LIberty will try and find it,

Hey-- I just saw this thread so it might be too late, but I have 245/70r16 Grabber AT's on 16x8 Cragar soft 8 w/5" BS and they rub pretty bad. I had to cut the plastic fender flare in the back and bend some metal pieces out of the way and in the front they rub the pinch weld and it will need to be flattened. The tires do stick out slightly past the flares

That being said they look sweet and the Jeep handles MUCH better. Only a slight loss in MPG and acceleration.
