enough already
the cause is alignment bottom line
I have revos on a truck the out weighs a KJ by OVER 2X and with a good alignment I will get over 50K out of them ,a stretch but it will happen they are great highway/LT tires

The thing that could have saved your butt would have been some good thinking and proper paper work
#1 get a GOOD alignment by a good shop
#2 keep the paper work ,most times alignments come with some type of warranty and most are for a year
#3 rotate you tires every 6K ,every other oil change

if you had done that then tire replacement would have been easy ,tread wear prorated
I know because even when I did not by tires from Goodyear the did the alignment and rotated the tires every year
I had a bad tire and because the KJ was "well maintained" they were willing to prorate the tire

X2

Being out of alignment, depending on how bad,can increase tire wear up to 500% faster then if you had a perfect alignment and proper PSI in the tires.

Yes i did get an alignment after my lift. I didnt get another one because It was a spacer lift and didnt think that the spacers could settle very much.

I agree that the cause of the bad and uneven wear on the outside corner of the tire would be from out of alignment.

I DO NOT agree that because of the alignment that the rest of the tire should have worn this fast. I say that because the tires still have much better tread depth on the inside of the tires.

Uh, the only time a tire will wear like that is because of an alignment issue. Period, no argument. Do you have Al's upper arms by chance? And maybe the alignment sheets?

How many miles did your KJ have on it when you put the lift on? The spacers won't really settle...but your springs WILL sag.

No to als arms. I think i might have the sheet of paper for the alignment...

Sorry about coming across bad Tom, just REALLY fustrated for dishing out over 650 bucks for 5 tires and now this... I trust that it truly is my fault for not realizing this when it first started. I have decided that i am just going to ride this out and make it through the winter and then pony up for new rubber and a good alignment...

Thanks all, and again.. no hard feelings, i dont want to make any enemies...

Tires wear faster when more weight is applied to the corners of the tires. I do a lot of turning in the city and it makes perfect sense about what Tom is saying. If needed I can go get my KJ realigned (which is Stock BTW) and so you all that it is within spec and still rounding the corners off the front tires.

no problems

have had people come into my store and cuss me out and throw things at me even, cause their tires wore out sooner then they thought they would. I used to keep used tires sitting around for examples as to what can happen with out proper tire pressure, not rotating and yes in your case not having the alignment checked. Anytime I do something to alter the front suspension on mine or anybody elses I recommend getting an alignment right away and then in a few thousand miles after everything settles down some, a small amount can make a huge difference in tire wear. After a tire starts to wear it will continue to wear that way no matter what. One difference is mud tires if they are cupped they can be flattened back out some but it will have worn faster than a tire that is rotated more often.
Good luck with the tire issues

Tom
